Take a look at that gif of Marchand...or any of their flops, instead of battling through a check

If the Sedin's were soft there would have been zero Art Ross trophies, zero Hart trophies, zero Pearson awards, Henrik would not have played 679 consecutive games. They have taken a beating night in and night out, with no complaints, just the pure determination to battle and succeed. They would have been out of the league in about 2004 if they were soft.

You can cherry pick all you want.

The 679 consecutive game record is a little bit tainted, at least to me. There was one point at the end of the season where the Canucks had already clinched a playoff spot, and Henrik dressed for the game, played one solitary 20-second shift and then hit the showers. Solely to preserve his streak.

I can't remember how many games he did that for, I think that game was the most extreme case, but his ice time had been decreasing in the games leading up to that.

I understand resting players for a playoff drive, but if he needed the rest or was that afraid of potential injury, he should have just been scratched like any other playoff-secured team does. What they did either takes away playing time from another C that was scratched, or forces the rest of the forward group to make up for his 20-some minutes per game. Should they have to give 110% and risk injury in a meaningless game if their captain won't?

Instant memories of the Iginla-led Flames with Linden, and the Sedin-led Canucks with Smyth.

Don't mistake respect for admiration. I doubt there's many Sedin fans in here, but even though I dont like them I can't hate on such successful careers.

End of an era. Could never hate them, i remember in the series against Vancouver in 2015, one of them picked up the stick for one of our players after a scrum.

It happened once, he didnt want to do it from what he said

Told AV he was fine sitting or playing and vignault chose to do that

Either way, he was willing to play, his toughness shouldnt be questioned

Even the marchand thing is without context, the playoffs before when they lost to chicago for the 2nd time they were told that the after the whistle stuff waa getting them unfocused, so going into 2011 they said they would stay away from it and let the refs call penalties.

Their whole bread and butter is the cycle, their careers lived on the boards, its insane to think they would excel in that and be 'soft'

Daniel scored goal #22 at 33 seconds of the period. Assisted by his brother, naturally.

On aside note, anyone know somebody at the game tonight that can buy me a 50/50 ticket? It's over 800k right now.

I've got some money into the 50/50. I think it's over a million now.

Also it's been years since us Canucks fans have enjoyed hockey, but this is awesome tonight.
