Not a fan. Divers. Lit up the Flames.

The wanton admiration in this thread is gross.

Agreed, for a good chunk of their careers they were Professional Divers.

That reputation doesnt show up by accident.

They seemed to have ironed it out of their game more or less, but it was there for a long time.

Some of us are hockey fans too, not just Flames' fans. As a hockey fan, I enjoy watching good hockey players make good plays. My love of hockey doesn't centre around only the Calgary Flames. Believe it or not, there are many good hockey players in the league to admire and they don't all play for Calgary.

My posting record will indicate that I am a fan of many non-Flame players.

Heck, I had a soft spot for Naslund back in the day

I have no such soft spot for the diver Sedins, and frankly I didn't "enjoy" watching their brand of hockey.

Hot take. None of this has anything to do with disliking the Sedins (as NHL players)

Didn't AV's Canucks include divers who were worse than the Sedins in that department? Kesler, Burrows etc.?

Sadly I was at that blow out game mentioned above. We had planned the trip hoping it would be a Flames clincher for the playoffs/division and instead it was a total booze fest as we missed for hte first time since the 02/03 season.

Regardless, bye brother Daniel and brother Henrik. I will not miss you!

Honestly, apart from Luongo, the Sedins are the only other players I could ever appreciate on a team like Vancouver. Sucks they never got a cup. Happy retirement boys!

Maybe it's just me but the time for mocking the Sedin's has passed.

In the event, the 'Hawks only got a decent, but, not great Brian McCabe, plus a pick that turned into the legendary Pavel Voboriev, whoop-de-doo.

In any rate, having a mini-rivalry with the Canucks and the Sedin's contemptible cohorts (like Burrows, Bieksa, and Kessler), gave us Blackhawk fans a truly hate-able team to bounce from the playoffs for a run.

Never really hated the pillow soft pair, but, did hate that they insisted on being a matched set, or would have stayed at Modo, and, of course, hated the diving dirtbags that they played with.

I am not quite convinced that they are slam dunk HOF inductees, and, the fact that they WERE a package, I believe, will be a negative in the minds of some voters, as will the fact that they never had the ultimate prize. Probably they will need a couple of ballots to make it.

However, I wish them well in retirement (unlike some of their former teammates, for which I will never have pleasant wishes for).
Of all the misconceptions about the Twins, the perception of them being "soft" is by far the most inaccurate.

With the Hamilton bros split, need some of that same Burke magic that he used to get the Sedins, to find a way to get the other Tkachuk this draft.

I have to laugh at Canuck fans on certain other boards. Now they think with all that cap space they will land Tavares. I can just see that pitch, "Hey John we can pay you 12M a year for 7 years but we won't be remotely competitive for at least 5 of those years, come lose with us!"

Doesn't help when they were given the name "Mattress Line" from the Canucks' own media team though.

Ya, but that was a clever line name when King was with them

Exactly. Had noting to do with being "soft". "Two Twins and a King" was where that came from.

Which contending teams can afford to pay him though? He will likely have to decide between winning and maxing out his earnings potential and the latter places him on likely a bad team. I imagine the Golden Knights may have some flexibility so they could be enticing but I don't see many really good teams that are going to be able to drop $12 million/season on him.

cap space can fix everything or make it go horribly wrong-

Baertschi Horvat Boesser
Sutter Tavares Eriksson
Elias Pettersson Statsny Gaudette

Elder Stecher
Gubbrandson Tanev

pretty solid core. 12M for Tavares 7 M for Statsny and they still have 6M left

The Canucks were staying within striking distance of the Flames. after 32 games the Flames were up 1 pt on the Canucks and both about 4-5 pts out of the last wildcard spot. Then the Canucks ran out of players... they had over 10M of cap on the IR over the year.

I was certainly one of the people that made fun of the twins, but they certainly were much tougher than they were given credit for. For all the abuse they took from opposing players... and they just kept going. 17 years and >1300 games speaks for itself.
Props to them, they deserve it.

I imagine most teams can actually swing it with the cap going up and some tinkering. You can exceed the cap in the off season, any GM that is interested will make it work via trades afterward.
