What are you going to learn from throwing rookies into an understrength roster under a coach who doesnt know how to shelter them, doesnt care and likely wont be here next year?
I understand what you're saying, but theres limits to the effectiveness of what you learn at these points.
Do you think they dont know its meaningless? That their linemates arent giving 100% and effectively selling them out.
If you're Kylington do you think whoever your linemate is that hes going to help you out if you make a mistake as opposed to phoning in the end of the season?
Who are you impressing? The coach? Hes a dead man walking. Who cares? He doesnt.
Frankly, I'd let the guys collecting NHL cheques go down with this ship.
Fist of all, Kylington is responsible for his own play, and I'm sure management will put his performance into context. It's also about exposing him to NHL speed and level of play. It might just be good for his development to get a sense of where he needs to get to over the summer if he wants to challenge for a spot out of camp.
And as to the bolded: Management? Especially since Shore is a 25 year old RFA, I'm sure they want a long look at him to see if he's worth qualifying.

I get that, I guess my point is that there are a ton of changes happening now and coming up.
How many meaningful conclusions do you think can be drawn from biased, skewed or otherwise irrelevant scenarios?
Sure, its a cup of coffee and the pay will be nice, but actual material evaluation? You'd probably be able to tell more about them in Stockton than throwing them into a Flames game now.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I hope we see the Flames put up a solid effott and earn a win. Regardless of the result, most importantly I hope they do put a fight and dont let the Coilers walk all over them in the Flames' home rink. If the Flames dont show up and get blown out, I hope we see some Flames jerseys on the ice.

My contention is that it's better than not seeing him at all at the NHL level. IF changes are coming to the roster, you probably need to have some idea of what these players are capable of right now. AHL play can only tell you so much. The jump to the NHL level is a significant one.

Ugh.
NEVER.

The question that arises for me when seeing the lineup is one questioning putting Stajan in over Shore before we got eliminated from playoff contention.
I know Stajan deserved to get 1,000 games and all but it makes me wonder if the coaches cared more about keeping the guys happy over doing what was best for the team.
We've seen it plenty where player like Brouwer, Stajan and even Frolik were given plenty of icetime even when they were struggling and not playing well. The coach seems to worried about not disrupting a senority structure within the room as opposed to rewarding younger guys for improved play.
Scratching Stajan makes me wonder if maybe he was only played to reach 1,000? It could also be that they want to look at Lazar and Shore at center and played more gritty players on the wings because it's the oilers..
I dunno just makes one wonder is all.
I can't wait for this season to end

If there’s one game I’d like to see them win for the rest of the season, for selfish reasons of course, this is it. I really need the Flames to finish ahead of the Oilers.
Can anyone explain to me why Shore, a career 4th liner/tweener is either a scratch or centering the first line? Just more GG logic I really don't understand.
Because you can't break up the 3m line! They've been amazing!
