I want Gulutzan gone right now because I want to be appeased as a fan. Seriously. If you can't bring me winning hockey, at least give me a meaningless gesture that gives me what I want to hear.
I also don't want to worry about Gulutzan possibly being back next year.
Very small chance, like minimal. Not sure why you'd even believe he'd be back let alone with such assuredness. Brad stuck it out for two seasons because it was his hire, but he's not stupid and won't put his own head on the block with a third season of a system that doesn't produce results.

I think the odds of him being back next year are very slim. At this point I'm sure the organization will just be respectful of the situation as they should. GG might not be a good coach but seems like a good person so I see no reason to can him at this point.

We're still gonna pay him. If he's a dead man walking, get it over with and let him go home. I don't see any respect in prolonging the situation. I'm sure Gulutzan wants certainty himself.
The fact that no coaches have been fired this season might be playing into it...it would be massive news around the league to fire him with a few games left.
I know I know "who cares about his feelings"
Well, you want to attract the best people to this organization, have to be careful how you handle things
This guy on the fan960 is skewering the team - paraphrasing him, but "too much focus on grit and character. We more skills. Who cares if their #######s? Being a nice guy doesn't help you outscore your opponent. #### hamonic, lazar, stajan. I'll take talented #######s over these talentless boobs any day of the week."
Lol - he's not wrong!

Not his job...guy is a quality dman and played well this season. Taking the fall for forwards who didn't do their job
Hamonic didnt play like someone worth what we gave up for him. So we overpaid..Why? Overvalued has good guy attributes perhaps?
The locker room is full of good guys. Good guys don't help win championships.
I think the organization is focused on the wrong type of character. Because the players are all saying how much character they have in that dressing room...well it's not helping them win and they're still fragile as ####.
Guys who want to win - guys with abnormal quantities of heart and drive - help win championships. Is Patrick Kane a good guy? Is getzlaf? Was tim Thomas? Is Brad marchand? No probably not all good guys. But they're all driven and they all have heart. And they all really want to win. And they're all champions.
Matt stajan - good guy, has done nothing in his career. What has he accomplished in the playoffs? He's played over 1000 games and done nothing of rememberance. No long playoff runs. Nice guy though. Seriously wtf? Who cares? Not me. This guy personifies what's wrong with the team. He's a career loser. Can't wait until his ahl quality skill is no longer in the nhl. Good guy though lol.

Dude chill...I said one of the four guys you mentioned is actually good hockey player. No argument on the other guys

Yep. I couldn't disagree more with those who think the Flames need more grit, size, or truculence.
Almost all of the forwards simply don't produce. Ideally, I hope the Flames acquire players like Backlund: they can produce, but they're still good defensively. It would be nice if they signed a bona fide goal scorer or play-maker this summer.
If you aren't able to score, you better be a gem defensively (like Hamonic).
See Tampa Bay. A bunch of small, fast and skilled forwards. On the back end, they have a bunch of defensive defensemen. Although Hedman and Sergachev certainly can produce.
Again, who cares about toughness. The Flames need depth. Depth in skill, defensive awareness, and speed.
This will make the special teams better.
That, and better coaching.

Yes I'm sure Brad tossed in a couple 2nd round picks because he heard Hamonic was a nice guy. Likely had nothing to do with the fact that he had 3 years on his deal at a 3.85 cap hit for a 25 year old top 4 dman.

I think you meant a number 4 dman. Top 4 implies he could play anywhere between 1 and 4. Hamonic can only play 4 on a half decent team. One can easily name 62 dmen in the league who are objectively better than Hamonic. One can probably name 93 that are better as well, placing Hamonic firmly in the number 4 dman category. On his best day he might compete for the 80th best dman in the league, which would give him a shot at being a number 3 dman.
Real question is whether we could get a 1st and two 2nds for him now. I doubt we could, which means we overpaid.

To piggyback on Hackey, what other 27 year old, or younger, top 4 D men making less than $4.0 were available last summer? Were there any, I don't believe so, at least not off the top of my head.
Economics 101; supply & demand. Treliving wasn't the only manager out there who made an offer on Hamonic. The islanders were not just going to give Hamonic to the Flames for hunter smith and a third when the leafs and others were likely coming to the table with similar offers to what the Flames made.
What's Adam Larson making? What did it cost the oilers to get him?
