I still don't think its a good trade for SJ...they aren't a cup contender and are just giving away picks.
The fact it costs them a 1st to keep him when any other team can sign him with no compensation.

It’s pretty clear the Flames are missing more than a scoring winger. I don’t think they’re in a position right now to be giving up more assets for a rental.

Just hilarious how Kane sinks this game for the Flames. Too freakin' funny at this point in the season.

Honestly Smith has to shoulder some of the blame for this too.
He kept the team in some games the first 2-3 weeks but since then he’s been a big part of this teams inconsistency Home vs Road.
He has. .901 save percentage on home ice and a .943 save percentage on the road.
Just a weird weird season by this team. Can’t score or get saves at home and score more and get elite goaltending on the road.

All that tells me is that it's not going to be the Flames year this year. That's all.

And cannon fodder for the Knights?? No. The Knight will be beatable for any team in the playoffs. That defense of theirs has big holes and will be exposed.

This is still very unlikely...but yeah Vegas is the least of our worries, besides wildcard 1? GL

I disagree - if they had any mental fortitude and a couple of guys who could hit the net they would be in a much better spot this year

I’m going to go eat a half dozen Glamorgan bakery ham and cheese buns. This team has lead to me becoming an emotional eater. Damn you Flames.

You know damn well if we don't make playoffs that pick no matter how unlikely is going to become 1st overall. FML.

Would you rather the Flames win it or the Oilers?

This team is pretty unlucky. On top of their scoring chances to finish ratio, just look at tonight, Jankowski has a chance to make it 3-1 and fires it off the shaft of Jone’s stick, then shortly after Monahan, has a wide open net and the puck bounces off his foot, off his blade and away from him.
Defensively? I don’t think we even gave up a chance in the 1st and the puck dips on Smith and in. 4th and 5th goals were bounces. A few nights prior against the Isles, the first 2 goals went off of a shin pad and off Brouwer’s stick and floats in some how.
This team has been good enough to win these games this season, but just aren’t getting any luck this year.

But they don’t, that’s what I’m getting at. They’re more than just one player away from being contenders.

I blame Johnny. Ridiculous individual effort to make it 3-2 and the rest of the team got complacent. Then drew back-to-back penalties to set up the momentum killing 5 on 3 power play that gave the Sharks the game.
Seriously though, a team that can limit the opposition to 4 SOG in the first period and still end up with 7 goals against? Hang your heads in shame...

Not even mad, expected this.
I never wanted to know how an Oilers fan felt.

I just don't even know what to say. So incredibly disappointing. This is so bizarre too because when we missed the playoffs before we could at least hope for a strong draft.

What did our crackerjack coaching staff say after the game? They certainly wouldn't shoulder any of the blame. Very sad game for me. Some good things, some bad things, some ugly things. The 50 /50 coaching plan doesn't work. Who woulda thought. Maybe our next coaching staff will play for wins.

Now we wait with baited breath hoping the NYI don’t win 1 of the 3 draft lotteries with the unprotected 1st round pick the Flames gave them. I would hate that.
That said, it would be the darkest sort of funny if the NYI drafted Dahlin with the Flames pick.

The western conference is better that the eastern this year,
Calgary is simply not a very good team.
When you goal differential is -11, you ain’t making the playoffs.

The point others are making....is the Flames do not have a 1st round pick this year, or a 2nd, or a 3rd.

Just shut down Monahan
He's been useless since the new year, let him get healthy for next season and let Janko and Bennett get some top line experience

Dave Cameron mentioned on the radio show that "We out chanced them 9 to 8".
Big freaking deal Dave, why even mention a stat like that, it's really meaningless when there's collapses in every facet of the team's play. Whole team top to bottom wasn't good enough, your power play failed as usual, the whole organization has sadly failed this year.
