As much as GG has shown he's not capable of being an NHL coach, the offensive power of the roster is really lacking depth, and there's no forwards in the system in place to come and step up. Flames need to get forwards that can produce off the UFA market and via trade. If you're trading, and Gio is untouchable, only Brodie and Hamilton will bring a forward that could contribute.
I think the defensive prospects the Flames have make it worth the risk to shed some defensive talent.
I definitely think our defense strategy is flawed. But they really shouldn't be moving any of the top three until this coach is gone.
Gio, Tkachuk, Monahan, Gaudreau: as untouchable as it gets
Bennett, Brodie, Hamilton: Moving based on the time under this coach is a massive mistake.
Get the low hanging fruit first and then start addressing the team construction strategy.

I'm just going to pretend Canucks drafted a guy like Tkachuk ahead of us and we were forced to get someone that blew like Juolevi or Poolparty, then in this draft we won 6th pick and got Tkachuk. Tkachuk is now our 2018 pick.
I also agree with Joborule that no heart, no emotion Hamilton needs to go. This should fetch us back at least a first. Then th new coaching staff should reunite Brodie and Gio and give them an honest test to see if they can rekindle their chemistry. If it doesn't work maybe it is time to trade Brodie although I still have an allegiance towards Brodie. I think he has been mismanaged by Gully.

Prefer Ferland on the first line. Hopefully he comes back healthy.
Would like to see Bennett back with Jankowski and Hathaway. When Bennett, Jankowski and Hathaway were at their best earlier this season they almost played chaotically with tonnes of pressure on the forecheck in the offensive zone and not positionally. Don't know if they were coached out of that style but I'd sure like to see it again.
Ran into a really hot goalie, but the season is slipping away and excuses are just that excuses.

Calculated risk not to spend the price for an NHL goalie last weekend or Monday.
If Treliving knew that he could've had 4 or 5 points out of the last 6 games with experienced NHL backups instead of zero points, think he'd have paid the asking price.
My guess is that was his toughest decision to make changes, and he's rolled the dice and missed.

Yes it does. The sooner you get the stink of the head coach out of the organization the better. Plus the team might actually become fun to watch.

How is that long term master plan by the Flames management working out.
The problem is you are trading from a position of weakness. You are doing exactly what the Oilers did.
You'll never get value for Brodie at this point, so why do it? Why make a trade for the sake of it?
You do it if the value makes sense. If you don't get a deal that makes sense for the team to move forward, then you don't do it. You still have trade deadline next year to give it a go if he's still a player that's trade bait.
Flames are controlling play and badly out-shooting opponents. But your scoring chances are really low.
Not sure if that is a coaching problem or a player problem.
But I feel like it is a player problem. Flames just don't have the offensive talent to convert their possession into actual scoring chances.
Same problem the Habs have had all season. They were controlling play and getting tons of shots on net. But they just couldn't score. Sometimes you have to look at the players and realize they aren't getting it done (either lacking good-luck or skill)
Its beating a dead horse almost at this point because nearly everyones noticed it except the Flames organization apparently but, the shots are low percentage because the system GG has them playing gives the opposition time to set up and get in the lanes. Then they let the Flames cycle around their defensive box taking low percentage shots. I really think we could be a more dangerous team if we went back to fast breakout transition style.

Just dominating that team and as soon as the third goal went in they fold like a cheap tent.
