Are the Flames eyeing a couple names on the Sabres?

I agree - Kylington gets a rough ride on CP, meanwhile guys like Corey Pronman see our defensive prospects ranked like this:
Fox > Kylington > Valimaki > Andersson.
Kylington is a great prospect.
I’m not for trading our defensive prospects unless the return is very, very strong. Those 4 prospects are all top notch.

Can't have all 3 of Stone, Fox, and Andersson clogging up RD moving forward, as I think Hamilton and Hamonic are here for the foreseeable future and will sign extensions. Stone is the least moveable though.
I love both prospects, but I can't shake the gut feeling that one will no longer be with the Flames organization by Tuesday.

Yeah. Eventually we have to trade from a position of strength for something we really need. We need scoring.

I think it’ll be Fox, but I think the return will be significant.

Just added on to my last post about Kylington>Fox imo. For me I rank them
Valimaki>Andersson>Kylington>Fox and this is no slight on Fox. The 3 others are close offensively (very hard to compare) with better defensive games. Fox had a lot of trouble defending heavy players on the boards at the WJ’s. He’s got some holes in his Defensive play that need to be worked on in the AHL. Kylington has holes as well but I think given his time in the AHL he’s much farther along in regards to defensive ability.
Fox’s hockey IQ and passing ability is why the Flames should not trade him regardless tho. He was amazing to watch the last 2 WJ’s. Really has incredible vision.
I love all 4 of these prospects and I think all have the potential to be top4 Dmen in the future and a hell of a lot more valuable then now. We should not move any, unless there is an indication that fox will not sign. Move Hamonic or Brodie in the future. Flames have never had this type of wealth in D prospects since I became a fan. Hamilton only 23 too, Flames need to keep these guys and build their futue defense around them.

I think each of our 4 D prospects have fans on CP. I would love to see a poll of which one is considered “Best”. Based on what I’ve read on CP, my money would be on Fox.

In terms of current ability 100%. Valimaki has the most potential out of all of them imo, and he should given his draft position. Still very awesome that 3 of those 4 were not first round picks and have all improved their value a fair bit since the day they were drafted. Just look over at the Oil’s D prospects and see what despair looks like. Our top 4 have more value then their best one.

I think Fox and Valimaki have a lot more trade value than Andersson.
A lot of teams seem to keep a close eye on guys who do well in the NCAA, remember when the Flames were getting tons of offers for Gaudreau?
But with Fox, there's always a large risk that he wont sign. As it stands has to compete with so many strong defense prospects and a solidified top 5 in the NHL (Gio, Hamiltion, Brodie, Hamonic and Stone). Plus he'll likely want to finish his degree at Harvard. I would say 70% he doesn't sign with the Flames. Not unless someone is traded.
In terms of actual prospect rankings, I would say Andersson is a bit closer to Fox and Valimaki.
I would go:
1. Fox
2. Valimaki
3. Andersson
4. Kylington
5. Wotherspoon
6. Rafikov
7. Mattsson
8. Healy

I think Fox is getting slightly overrated here by some, Andersson was the higher pick, has been Stockton’s best Dmen for 2 years now, and is without a doubt more NHL ready than any other prospect. I need to see Fox play in a better league before putting him over Andersson

If there is a deal with the sabres being discussed hopefully it is something like this:
To the Flames - Reinhart
To Buffalo - Fox, Mangiapone, (sweetener of Wotherspoon, or a future 3rd)
If Buffalo says no thanks, then wish them well and continue with the season.

In the offseason, there was a poll and this was the result:
It may be different now.
One question, Fox has inferior stats to last year. Does this mean he has taken a step back?

It's thin, very thin. I'm a Kylington fan and would be the most crushed if it was him going the other way, but very good cases for the other 3.

Is Kylington still prone to big defensive lapses and giveaways like last season? Or has he cleaned that up? I haven’t been following too closely this year.

Sounds like a make work project. He likes one of 4 prospects best, can thank posts making cases for the other 3 of the 4

Not at all.
Harvard as a team took a step back, last year Harvard were the powerhouse of the ECAC with a 28-6-2 record, this year they're 13-12-4
4 of their top 5 forwards from last year have moved on. Fox is still Harvard's 3rd best point producer this year, last year he was 5th.
I truly believe trading Fox for a deadline rental will be an epic fail for the organization.

I thought we were getting Kane and Nilsson at the deadline.
