This is true. They were freakin' loud, especially when it was 4-3 and the Flames had Vegas on their heels.

Team is boring at home. I brought my Fiancees family from India to a game when they came to Canada to visit earlier in the year and the Senators blew us out 6-0 fun times. We just rolled over and died no push back. Kind of felt embarrassed to be honest. Its not a fun style to watch. This is why I go on about Hartley so much. Yes he was a terrible coach and yes he is a jerk but the team was actually fun to watch win or lose. I just want a coach that preaches an uptempo style that is fun to watch, give me something to cheer about Stajan.

The Flames have paid him close to $20 million over his time in Calgary. He's making nearly a million dollars per goal. Fans cheering louder aren't gonna stop him from taking dumb penalties or always whining in the faceoff circle.

I'm hoping for some context surrounding the Stajan comments, I just can't see him saying something like that. That said though, I hope the players don't use that as an excuse for being terrible at home. You owe it to the fans to play an entertaining brand imo. Personally I value things like work ethic, grit, determination, etc. over fancy stats like puck possession or whatever the F corsi measures. Play however you want on the road, just get the wins... but this team reminds me way too much of Brent Sutters boring mind numbing "system" that sucks the life right out of the game.

From a distance this season reminds me of the 2009 season where there was so much hope going in and having the best d on paper. Lots of boring games and disappointment follows..

And just to pile on the Staj comments without any context, but would he prefer the fans played the homes games for him? It would be a lot easier that way..

I'm very disappointed in Stajan. Without the fans in Calgary or elsewhere, a guy like him might have a minimum wage job.

As a fan in Ontario, I can't say much about the atmosphere at the Dome, but I can say this season, the Flames have not inspired me to even watch them from my couch. I fast forward through a good chunk of the games, or don't even bother watching if I had to miss it.

It's not surprising that people who pay thousands of dollars a year to watch their team get grumpy when the home team comes out and lays an egg more often than not.

Honestly, lately I've found it more fun, and less stressful, to watch OOT games. And because I do, I know that all barns get quiet if the home team is playing poorly. If they do something to change that, the crowd gets loud. It's really not a surprising concept.

Taking potshots at the home crowd, especially comparing them to that of a rival team's, just comes across very poorly.

Honestly, has there been that many sustained, or even brief exciting moments at home this season? Anytime a Go Flames Go chant is attempted, the Flames end up doing something that kills the setup or are on the backcheck. The team has been extremely boring at home this year, and has done nothing to get the fans hyped.

Out of all rosters I've seen since 1997, I feel this one is the most lethargic. They're really consistent in playing flat and uninspired.

People do tend to work harder for the jerk authority figure that pushes your buttons and doesn't give you special treatment. Sometimes unfair treatment like he supposedly did, even without justification.

Probably a lot of reason for why the players would scratch and claw until the bitter end for him, even if they weren't very structured.

Did we ever work as hard for the substitute teacher, or the nice supervisor/manager that was easy going and likeable? Not usually. This is the time for GG to challenge them on a group and individual level, and start being a jerk.

they are on vacation in one of the biggest party towns in the world and this is the first time the Flames have ever played there. People booked these trips the day the schedule came out.

Obviously its different than the standard Wednesday night at the Saddle Dome where a guy has to rush over after work.

Gotta disagree in a sense that leadership is not so prescriptive. Different people respond to different things in varying degrees.

That said I’m with you in that this team needs a royal kick in the ass and it doesn’t appear that Gulutzan is the right guy to motivate properly.

Well, I spent over $1000 to watch both my teams suck ass against Vegas, but you know what? I still had fun. Great atmosphere at T Mobile. You can tell the fan base is psyched for their team.

Rittich needed to be a lot better tonight. It’s too bad the Mony goal was called back, they wilted after that. Would have been a fun third tied at 4.

I’ll start cheering a little more at the games in Calgary when the Flames stop putting plugs like Stajan in the lineup over some guys with some upside and a some fortitude. The guy is on our “energy line” and I don’t think he’s dropped the gloves once since he came to Calgary. Not even to defend a teammate.

I'm jealous of everyone who got to watch the Flames in the 80's. I've never seen the Flames be a good team. '04 was a great run but the season itself was nothing special (if you ignore the context of it being unexpected and ending the 7 year drought). 2006 was a great season but we got bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs. In my lifetime they've never been anything better than a decent team. Not once.

This entire organization is stuck in perpetual mediocrity.

Is it too much to ask to be in a battle for top spot in the division instead of a dogfight for a low playoff seed?

It's a difficult time to cheer for this team, especially since the lineup should be a lot better than they've shown. They need to be selling in the next few days and know that the entire coaching staff needs to be shown the door in April.
