Was at the game and couldn't agree more, no comparison to a game at the Saddledome. Kudos to Stajan for telling like it is.

The Flames are one of the worst home teams in the entire NHL. Not a lot to cheer about.

Stajan and his 5 points a season can blow it out his ass. Can't wait til he's gone too.

If you look at the personnel Vegas has compared to the Flames, they don't look like they should be that much better than the Flames (on paper the Flames look better). Obviously they are very well coached. The Flames on the other hand, not so much.

Flames do suck at home. So I can understand why it is the way it is. However the reality is the saddledome has always been known to be a quiet, sit on the hands and library experience. Save for a few recent playoff rounds. As mentioned video games in the past used to comment about the nickname the library.

Agree just telling it like it is. Truth hurts. Though I still question whether Stajan should have said it.

Re: the Stajan comments

This is one of those things where I think both sides of the tension are right and wrong . I have thought about how disappointing it would be as a Flame to come out to the Saddledome ice with how quiet it is and how hard the fans are on the team constantly. That would be tough, it could be the pressure the team feels at home and a contributing factor to their poor home play and record.

On the other hand, they do not play well at home. Uninspired with providing little to cheer for. What generates the buzz in the building are exciting plays and things actually happening, which most of a home Flames contest is missing. Nobody comes to watch technical strategic hockey. Nobody comes to watch men going through the motions. Nobody comes to watch floating, no push back, no hitting, no engagement play.

This is one of those cases where he is right and wrong all at the same time. And this is one of those times where the fans are right and wrong all at the same time too.

Stajan could be better. Fans could be better.

Well said. We are lucky to have timed things in such a way that we have some important pieces playing for below market prices and we are pissing those years away.

Oh boo boo. Let me guess, season ticket holder yadada......... our rink has been a library since the mid 90's.

Calgary fans are simply fine to just go to the rink and stay silent. I was an usher for 5 years and same thing. I have been a season ticket holder 8 years. Same friggin thing.

The Saddledome could be so much better if only the entitled elite corporate fans gave a crap about supporting the flames.

Do we really want to? I know some people like gloating when we suck, could you imagine how bad it would be if we made the playoffs? The negativity and intensity would get ramped up tenfold. The forum might literally implode. The GG hate and anger would be off the charts, especially if it meant he didn’t get fired. I don’t think I could handle it.

Then again if we miss it’ll be a cauldron of hate with our 1st rounder guaranteed to win the lottery.

The only sensible solution is to cancel the rest of the season.

Remember how the Flames played down the stretch without Giordano in 2015? Remember clinching a playoff spot in the game against the Kings?

The Saddledome can be loud. It simply needs a reason to be.

The funniest part is listening to Stajan blame the fans when he and the team should be looking at themselves.

Flames fans have been embarrassed with how King has treated the city with the expectation that public funds will be used to build a new arena. Not only are the Flames not giving their fans something to cheer about, they are giving us a reason to be pissed off.

Yeah but I’m not making $3,000,000. I think the onus is on him and his teammates to be better.

I will preface this with the caveat that I did not hear Stajan's post-game interview; I'm basing my thoughts on what was reported in this thread. Just ignore all of this if his comments were taken out of context.

I'm very disappointed in Stajan. Without the fans in Calgary or elsewhere, a guy like him might have a minimum wage job.

As a fan in Ontario, I can't say much about the atmosphere at the Dome, but I can say this season, the Flames have not inspired me to even watch them from my couch. I fast forward through a good chunk of the games, or don't even bother watching if I had to miss it.

It's not surprising that people who pay thousands of dollars a year to watch their team get grumpy when the home team comes out and lays an egg more often than not.

Honestly, lately I've found it more fun, and less stressful, to watch OOT games. And because I do, I know that all barns get quiet if the home team is playing poorly. If they do something to change that, the crowd gets loud. It's really not a surprising concept.

Taking potshots at the home crowd, especially comparing them to that of a rival team's, just comes across very poorly.

Historically mediocre is putting it lightly.

Don't forgot a mostly conservative mentality overall city as well. Save for 10 days in the summer.

Stajan was probably referring to the flames fans in the Vegas rink who created more GO FLAMES GO chants than what they see in Calgary. The flames fans in Vegas made more noise than our own building.

Why blame Stajan at this point he has one foot in the retirement home. The fact he gets a regular shift is not his fault.
