Zero chance that as much as Brodie has been the whipping boy that he gets moved at all this season. Even in the offseason it's an extremely tough question to be asking as you're setting yourself up for failure if the prospects you have don't make the jump or need a little more time.
On the topic of adding another depth defenseman (much less trading away one of our top 4 mainstays), I can imagine most NHL GMs wanting a veteran who can step in and out of the lineup without a hiccup and has experienced the playoff hunt/grind before. As good as Andersson has been and will be, I don't see the likes of Treliving promoting him to top team duty willingly without a plan B instead.
Is it the better or smarter choice? That's for fans to debate but it's certainly has not been the MO of most NHL teams looking for the necessary defensive depth for a deep playoff run.

Flames will likely no subtract from their blueline this season but no can see a trade happening this summer if they miss the playoffs or lose out early.
I think if they could get a legit top 6 for Stone they think about it because Andersson is close but even then I think they want the depth so will stand pat.
With Versteeg and Jagr as potential depth adds for the playoffs I don’t think they should do anything unless it is pull a trade for a scoring forward. If they go for a aociengforwsrs like Hoffman I prefer it be a prospect trade rather than a roster player

It's a mind numbing suggestion.

It depends on how big you see the hole at the number 4 D if Kulak steps in (and the number 6 if Spoon/Andersson come up or a replacement is part of the deal) versus the benefit of, say, a Hoffman coming in to bolster the forwards.

I feel Bennett has a better chance of being a competent top 6 forward than Kulak does as a top 4 Dman.
If people feel Hoffman is a first liner it might be worth it but if he is just a decent second liner I rather hold onto our current top 4

I'm talking right now. Bennett is not a top 6 guy this year. I think Kulak could do it this year. Next year, it depends on Valimaki.

The hyperbole is gross. The constant beating of this drum is so over exaggerated and unnecessary and it's a big contingent of the recent discussion that makes discourse here unbearable and drives good posters away.

Brodie's ATOI this year is 24mins while Kulak is in the 12min range. Kulak has been looking OK playing against other teams 3rd and 4th lines. It is out of the question to have him play 24mins+ per night against top6 competition.
We quite frankly don't have anyone in the organization who can fill that hole if Brodie were to be traded today. Would take a minimum of 2years for our prospects to step into that kind of role, and that's if they live up to their potential.
Brodie is one of those players where if he were traded, only then would we realize how valuable he is.

I think Brodie has looked pretty decent with the odd bad game since around December. I'm not really sure it's worth getting worked up over either way.

I'd view it as a massive gamble to ask Kulak to take on tor four minutes and a rookie to step in on the bottom pairing - in addition to the veterans on those pairings finding chemistry with new partners.
Especially at the most pressure filled, important time of the season.
That has the potential to be disastrous for the season and for those players.

I was pretty clear I was speaking about the hyperbole and constant droning on about it by a select group here... which very much IS happening. It's been discussed at length how certain posters have an almost vendetta out on chosen whipping boys and bring it up ad nauseam. People have even been banned for this growing behavior and good posters have left the site because of it. I posted an example of it on the last page from a post game thread, and it happens to a sickening degree any time we lose a game.
Nothing I just said is fictional. The amount of complaining about Brodie relative to the actual mistakes he makes is completely disproportionate, and for some people, growing on e-hysteria.

Since Brodie is a much better player than Larsson, the return would have to be a much better player than Hall. I mean hey, if Jack Eichel is on the tabel, I do that trade.
The returns people want for TJ brodie are just an example of how people ignore how defensively and offensively poor our team is as a team factoring in forward groups. Brodie'd be a superstar on a team like Boston or Pittsburgh.

To be fair, I said RW/Winger as I do agree RW availability and even NHL wide is the hardest position to fill. However players who could slot in on the RW either regular lines or on the PP there are a few.
Again, we truly don't know what's available, there's always players out there that can be had for the right price that the "insiders" aren't gushing over on any given day. With that being said I'm going to put a few wingers I feel the flames could target that they MAY have a chance at given the right package:
M.Hoffman - 16g/23a/39p - LW/great on the PP/could potentially slot RW
M.Stone - 16g/29a/47p - RW/rumored unavail/nobody knew Dougie was available so I wont rule it out but longshot. Treliving has been known to be a wizard
C.Fisher - 13g/14a/27p - RW/Arizona may look for D w/ Ekman Larsson not happy in Arizona.
J.Anderson - 17g/11a/28p - RW/Columbus could lose JJ as he is UFA and may look for a top 4 D.
G.Nyquist - 15g/10a/25p - RW/Rumors he could be available for the right price
B.Gallagher - 21g/12a/33p - RW/Rumors his name is out there for the right price
M.Grabner - 23g/6a/29p - LW/To be fair I wouldn't trade Brodie straight up for Grabner but rumors are he is available
W.Simmonds - 19g/16a/35p - RW/Always rumblings, no indication he's even available however
M.Marner - 13g/32a/45p - Earlier in the season I feel there may have been a chance, would take significantly more than Brodie if they'd move him at all now that he's come into his own this season
T.Vanek - 16g/23a/39p - RW/More of a rental so I wouldn't give Brodie straight up, but he's putting up pretty solid numbers even though people on CP don't necessarily like the guy. Not a long term solution

Brodie makes mistakes, but he's still an excellent top 4 D in this league. He's also likely distracted by of ice issues this year and is bound to return to form sooner or later. The standard some fans have for perfection is insane. The entitlement they have to flawless performances isn't healthy for anyone's mental health.

What are the Flames needs right now?
Right-shooting forward who can aid the powerplay, 3rd line - Enter Kris Versteeg back from injury
Left-sided defenceman, veteran depth as playoff insurance - only pick up a guy who can be had for cheap.
What about a guy like Nick Holden from NYR? 1.65M cap hit represents a just over 1M increase on Bartkowski - no idea on acquisiton cost though, but he could be the kind of guy who is perfect playoff insurance and able to play on PK, though he would bump Kulak to #7

As I already said, there are a lot of players I'd consider moving if it made the team better.
What I wouldn't do is actively look to movie Brodie in specific - at this stage of the season - based on some grossly exaggerated and agenda-driven suggestion he's some kind of net negative. It would result in Kulak playing top four minutes and a rookie on the bottom pairing which could be catastrophic to our defense as we're in the midst of battling for the playoffs.
I can't see many plausible scenarios that would lead Treliving to trade a top four d-man right now.
Would I do it if Ottawa was willing to trade us Stone? Sure. But most scenarios you can dream up (in my opinion) are extremely unlikely to happen in the next ten days.

No.
Stone needs a partner who can skate and move the puck for him if we have an injury on the left side. I'd prefer the return of a guy like David Schlemko.

This is the single most confusing thing from all these trade rumors that I'm reading. There's so much complaining and anger after every loss and then there's so many people here who want to trade important depth players like a TJ Brodie or whoever that'll make this team worse.
Ask yourself this, Brett Kulak who plays about 10 minutes a game, has he proven without a shadow of a doubt that he'd be superior to Brodie playing against higher level competition and at double the minutes? If he hasn't shown that ability, why make a trade? If people are mad now at the mistakes, just imagine throwing Kulak into the fire. The amount of mistakes and blunders would probably cause regret of epic proportions.
Until someone plays to the level of actually supplanting one of our veterans, than you don't mess around because we're in win mode now and putting young players in a position to fail is not a recipe for success. Until Kulak or Valimaki prove that they're better than Brodie, you keep things status quo.
