Hey, I sympathize! I'm sort of a "stay at home" defensive forward--mostly because I lack either speed or stamina, so skating slow circles in the defensive zone is more my thing.... I like to pretend it's because I'm a "grinder" and a "shut-down guy"--the reality is that I kind of suck. (hey, I'm good at other things. Really!)

But I really believe that people like us who don't score a lot of goals appreciate them more when we do. I can remember almost every one of them in great detail. Sounds like a great play--you'll have to trust the "videotape" of your mind.

That kind of detached feeling of unreality before a huge win really sinks in, when everyone is going wild and you can only just kind of stare in disbelief. That's a good one. Wish I could say it was a more common occurence.

Running a big rapid set and nailing it canoeing (especially after the two boats before you dumped. )

I don't know... I hate having songs stuck in my head. Sometimes I can't stop humming them, even when they're songs that I despise. And then my students give me weird looks when I'm humming Kelly Clarkson's "Miss Independence" as I walk into class.

Baking pies for my Dad.

I've done a couple of rather large projects around the house this year without any "advice" from my husband. I rewired my daughter's room for new lighting and built a folding bench/picnic table for my Dad. When they were done, and looked amazing, I felt glorious!

Seeing my girls' eyes light up over anything. Makes everything all worth while.

Anything involving that hunter instinct, there's really nothing like the feeling of getting a strike especially when you're able to see the fish and have been able to intice the fish into biting.

Or winning the big game in hockey, there's an overwhelming sense of joy, especially in the tight games and you know you've played your heart out.

My favourite feeling is the incomprehensibly awesome sense of calm I have a loved one in your arms and just hanging out. I love that sense of calm.

Some great threads in the OT section these days...

First, the sentimental, emotional, comforting, or otherwise girly feelings that we all love:

-Crawling into bed, dog tired, but knowing you can probably get 10-12 hours of sleep that night

-Sleeping, or being in bed, during an intense midnight thunderstorm.

-The all-too-rare (for me, anyway) moment when you're dreaming, but you know you're dreaming (a.k.a. lucid dreaming). You can control your dream, but you can feel your body laying asleep in bed. The more you feel your body, the less you can control the dream. It's the strangest tingly feeling in the world.

-When you've been asleep for about 5 minutes, and you have a mini-dream where something happens that JOLTS you awake... I love that for some reason.

-Playing music in front of people. After, when you know you nailed it, and you know they enjoyed it.

-The butterfly sensation you get when you think you might, just might, be falling in love.

-When you have a different sensation, the feeling when you think the other person might be falling in love, too

-Having someone look up to you.

-Walking early in the morning, or late at night, dawn or dusk, and seeing something beautiful

-Same scenario, but having beautiful music playing in your headphones. That exact point, the climax in the song, coinciding with the morning sun peeking through frost-covered branches. A crescendo mysteriously and perfectly timed with a shooting star. Northern lights dancing to your favourite song.

-Music that makes you feel love for everything.

Now for some manly stuff:

-Bungee jumping over a lake in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Trust me on this one, I've never had a more intense or beautiful experience. I suppose this could go in either category.

-Sneezing.

-Last week, in my final rec. hockey game of 2006, I recorded my first ever Gordie Howe Hat Trick. What a feeling. Finishing the game bloodied, but knowing I'd helped my team win.

-Morning wood. Accompanied by a good 15-second stretch. I consider this non-sexual.

-Seeing the Flames win a playoff series live.

-Seeing the Flames score/win live.

-Seeing the Flames score/win on TV.

-Nobody's mentioned taking a **** yet?

-Tobogganning.

The feeling after hitting a homerun is pretty damn good.

I'm in a beer & pizza league, so homeruns aren't that rare, but when you hit the odd one just right and launch it, it does feel good. But playing left field, it feels even better when I can track down one of those hits.


I can still picture some big plays in both hockey and baseball right from little leagues up. The move I put of the goalie, the pass I threaded, the shot in off the inside of the post, the screaming linedrive I snagged, or the perfect throw to catch the runner trying to steal second. They all give warm feelings (well, except the throw to 2nd. The throw bounced on top of the bag - the 2nd base and SS didn't know who was covering - that was 22 years ago (wow ))

Ooh, if we're describing goals......

I was bumped up a division - a 12 year old (there were 3 12 year olds that scored 5+ goes the first few games in our regular division so they bumped us) playing in a 17 & under league. It was OT in the semi's, I was on the left side (my off wing) The puck goes in the other corner, and then in the battle the puck moves up to the half boards. The Opposing D on that sid slides down to get it and the D I'm covering slides over to take his spot. I see my C is going to get the puckso I start break out. My Centre sees me an hits me with a pass just before I hit the centre - break away! As I cross the blueline I can her blade coming behind me, the goalie ( a 17 year old) comes out then starts backing in. He's backing in too quick, so I do a wrist shot of the inside of the left. I was actually off balance after teh shot and slide into the end board. The D-man who was chasing me then speared me in the stomach, but it didn't matter.

I don't know if it is just me, but when I'm playing I tune out the spectators - I never hear them. But after play stops the sound just sort of crashes down. Neat feeling.

Finishing that great book you stayed up waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late cuz you HAD to read the end and not being disappointed by it.

Sense of accomplishment when you cross the last item off the daily "To-Do" list.

"Arguing" with friends about who is hot or not and knowing that even tho you might like guys who are missing some teeth they won't think less of you.
