I don't feel sorry for the Hawks at all. They are getting exactly the season they deserve after pulling off that Hossa skin rash retirement scam. Maybe there are hockey gods after all because the Kings and Hawks haven't done jack since circumventing the salary cap. I hope they miss the playoffs over and over and over.

I don't think I would call what lazar does hitting most of the time, I'd call it bumping into guys, leaving them unaffected and leaving him on his ass. He tries to be physical a lot but he either doesn't have the balance or the strength to knock a guy off a puck or make them think twice the vast, vast majority of the time

Another trip to a visiting barn, another Flames win! Have seen the Flames on the road in Van, Edmonton x4, Toronto, Montreal x2, Anaheim and LA and the Flames are 10-0.
Exactly the type of win this team needs - snatching an ugly one.
I forgot how much fun Gaudreau is live. A real treat. Monahan was great also. Hamonic rock solid. Smith held them in.
Home crowd not happy about either disputed goal, though what else can one expect.
The double review took about 7 minutes I think. At least we didn't have to hear the Hawks goal song a third time for same play!
Caught a t-shirt from the gun. Gave it to the little girl in front of me who tried to grab it and missed. United Center was great. Crowd was fun to be part of, as visitors in enemy colors.
Go Flames!

Why I care about who scored the second goal: Gaudreau for Art Ross!

glad you had a good time! United center is great. we were there on what turned out to be Iginla's last game as a Flame and the outcome for the 'good guys' wasn't nearly as positive that night but still a great game experience

So you are saying CP needs to crowdfund you to join the team on the road?

Does the drop in play from both Bennett and Janko have anything to do with playing with Brouwer? I just feel like that is the case, not based on stats or anything.
We need someone creative to play with those 2. Too bad Steeger is still injured, that would work well IMO.
Or a trade? The guys from the farm aren't ready for the 3rd line roll.

Stats say Brouwer generally brings down his linemates. The eye test tells me differently about recent play, simply because I think he's looked good, but what do I know. I tend to think Bennett played well when Jankowski played well, and then Jankowski's confidence level and choices on the ice dropped somewhat.

Also, I think Lazar is going to be a late bloomer. Ever since that game where he completely outmuscled the guy down the ice and chipped it to Stajan for a goal he has been way more confident and has looked a lot better out there. He has a lot of positives, if he can figure out how to put a puck into the net he could be a real good 3rd liner.

Flames seem to be getting the benefit of a lot of calls after what feels like years of ending up on the short end. Goes to show how these things even out.
Not the prettiest game but the key thing to take away is that THIS is how great teams are successful: you win games where you aren't at your best. Flames did that tonight.

I don't get the Lazar hate. Sure he's lacked finish like a lot of players on this team but I actually am starting to like what I am seeing from him. He's not a finished product but his skating is a lot better than I realized. I don't think we are talking about a top 6 forward here but he looks like he has a chance to round into a solid bottom 6 guy. This is just a down year for the bottom six scoring goals this season and this can change from year to year or coach to coach.

Jagr got those two going, could use him again, too bad it didn't work out
At this point everything I have to say has already been mentioned but I just want to reiterate that Mony was a beast out there. One of the best games I've ever seen him play. It's crazy to me how that same player out there tonight can look completely lost through 5-10 game stretches. I know every player has their Jekyll and Hyde moments but I have never seen one quite like Mony. PLEASE give us good Mony for the rest of the season!!!

Look at the scoreless streaks for some of those Hawks. Check out Crosby in November. Monahan is pretty darn consistent production wise this year. The thing about his game yesterday was his engagement level in dogging the puck.

Scoring Winger

Can we, for the love of all things holy, make major changes to our powerplay. Why GG is so against having a big shot from the point is beyond me. We are far too predictable when we rely on a cross crease or cross ice pass in the slot to generate chances.
Give Stone a run at being the big shot from the point and watch some magic happen.
