We outshot them 19-9 in the 3rd and they scored 5 goals on 9 shots with many of them being non dangerous shots. Coaches can be blamed for a lot of things, but tonight’s loss was not on coaching.

OT! I don't think the Bolts had four decent goals

Issue is there does appear to be a mental issue in that dressing room - hard to say if that’s a coach thing or a player thing but it’s there.

Tonight I agree he does bare some of the blame. Last game I don’t think he deserved the flak he got for not calling a timeout at 2-2 but tonight he clearly should have called one at 4-4 or 5-4. And Smith 100% needed to be pulled after the 5-4 goal.

What concerns me is when did this creep into the locker room. Up until December they were lights out with a lead after two, no regulation losses and 1 it loss.

Since then though two regulation losses, two OT losses, and many other blown leads in the third that they were able to regain the lead or barely hang on by 1.

Something mentally has clearly invaded that dressing room.

You don't pull him after the 4-4 goal. It's a tie game and Rittich is cold and you're gonna throw the best offence at him?

You don't pull him after the 5-4 softy either. It's still a game that they could come back in. And you don't call the timeout there either. You're down 1, you need to bank it for the late surge.

This is not on GG tonight.

Does anyone have confidence that these coaches are going to be the ones to lead this team out of this rut, never mind make this team look like a contender?

What through 1.6 seasons gives you any indication?

Haven't you seen Calgary's record lately? Even with good goaltending, holding leads is not our forte.

At what point do people start to hold the players accountable? Serious question.
It never happens...ever.

Its mind boggling to me actually.

Its ALWAYS someone elses fault...always.

It's not a zero-sum game. One can still blame this on the goalies without being some sort of zealous Gulutzan apologist.

True, but the problem was the team then got rattled and gave up, with a ton of time left, on home ice.

The fragile mentality and passiveness has a lot to do with Glen Gulutzan and lack of motivating as well as (in-game) discipline.

Bad goalie nights happen, the way the team handles it is the more important thing. Coaching leads to habits and instincts, and currently their instinct in adversity is to fold. They're not being taught or inspired to react any other way. That's why Glen probably has to go before this team will find its way.

Tough night for Smith, but more importantly, the Flames just didn't have the same energy and spunk in the third period that they showed in the first two.

Just so fragile. And just so much a reflection of their coaching staff.

I am going to ask why?

If this team gets in a bottom seed with their road record is that not the same as getting a top seed with same home record?

The only ones who should be right angry are the hometown fans.

You're being disingenuous here.

Smith allowed 5 goals on 24 shots. 6 on 27.

Vasilevskiy allowed 4 goals on 46 shots.

Not to mention when Rittich came in he allowed a goal from behind the net

Nope but the coaching situation will sort itself out. Either he gets the team rolling again in time to make the playoffs or he won't and will get fired in the offseason. It's win-win either way for fans.

Oh man, you are probably also one of those guys who is really impressed during games when the Flames play like #### for the first 50 mins then try hard for the last 10.

How was this game on the coaches?...you know, what the actual subject was.
