Not overall but it was certainly goal tending that cost them this game

For as well as he has played Rittich hasn't been sharp in the couple times he's had to play the relief role.
At what point do people start to hold the players accountable? Serious question.

What's going to be lost(and I understand why) is that this was a great bounce back from the shock of Tuesday night. The Flames played well, but Mike Smith didn't. Goals change games, there's no way around that and he let in some real soft ones tonight and it flat out cost them the game.

As much as this sucks, there are still 30 games to go, that's a lot. 2 points out of home ice for the playoffs, which is obviously not much of an advantage, but my point remains. 2 points out of 2nd in the division.

Tonight was a good effort from the guys in front of Smith. Just not from Smith himself. Move on to the next one.

Gulutzan will throw Gaudreau next.

Not much you can say as this one's all on Smith. Maybe the worst goaltending performance in years as it was a horror show. Fans have been sent home unhappy far too often this season.

I am in Ft. Mac and caught the last part of the 3rd on the radio broadcast. I really like Wills and Loubardias.

Here was Loubardias' comments at the end of the game:

For the first, and only time, this season, the Flames lost the game because they didn't get enough saves.

One bad game is not on the coaches, but the 6 straight losses and terrible home record over the season so far.

I wanted Gulutzan fired a month ago.
I wanted him fired yesterday, and I want him fired now.
No, it's not emotion. It's just obvious.

Anyways, the better goalie won tonight. Smith has been so consistent, can't be too mad.
Rittich probably needs more starts.

I actually don't think the coaches really had much to do with this loss, too many soft goals allowed . . . if goaltending was tight, my guess is this game is in overtime and we at least get the loser point.

The difference is Cooper has a history of being a good, if not great head coach who has his team in first place in the league. He gets the benefit of the doubt, Gulutzan has been mediocre his entire career so he does not.

I mean, we can debate this all day -- and you make a valid point. But I look at this team and this team just doesn't know how to get ready to play a full 60 minutes. Gulutzan's refusal to call timeouts or speak to his team is so concerning. I just really don't feel confident in this coach, and I don't think the players do, either.

Seems like this season, the Flames are gonna be stinkers at home. Gonna have to be godly on the road to sneak into the playoffs.

It's too bad the innovation the Flames are displaying in finding ways to blow leads can't be directed into curing cancer or something.
