Watch the final 2 or 3 minutes again. There were at least 4 separate instances where, when the defenseman got the puck and had time to make a play, he simply lobbed it out to center instead. No attempt to push forward whatsoever.
On the last occasion, Hamilton had the puck and all three forwards were open in front of him. But instead of passing it, he flipped it over their heads to center. The only reason the Flames got a late scoring chance was because the Oiler D screwed up and turned it over int heir own end.
The Flames have been playing for the tie all season, but tonight may have been the most blatant example yet.

3 OT losses and 2 SO losses in 4 games. All with leads given up. Blew a 2-0 lead to the Oilers. Lost 7 in a row to the Grease now. PP huge black hole. Its ok to be frustrated about that. Not the end of the world but frustrating as hell.

Watching daily highlights, the disallowed goal on the Wild today is WAY worse call then the OT call here.
My goodness the NHL needs to change this.

I imagine this will be revisited in the offseason. Personally I would like to see them go with the call on the ice. No stoppages and less controversy.

Just cements what a ******* loser Kassian is. If you read lips he is telling refs to **** themselves repeatedly before he is tossed. I hope that loser gets suspended to go along with Lomber tuning him in. Just a dirty POS.

But it will. The Flames could have controlled their destiny here by knocking off teams they should be able to beat.
You don't and can't control your destiny at the end of the season. You do it by now by winning the games you should.

I didn't see the problem with the non goal even if it would have been against the Flame.
You can't kick a goalie like that

A PP goal in any of these last few games, and we'd probably all be singing a much happier tune around here. The PP is clearly the Flames' biggest weakness right now, and it could potentially cost them a playoff spot if they don't get it figured out soon.
No doubt the PP woes are eating away at the players right now, and you can tell they're gripping their sticks as a result. You'd think the dam would burst eventually, but I'm starting to believe that may not be possible with Cameron running things.
Something needs to give, or they need to at least try a different strategy. Put 5 defencemen out there for all I care. Just do something...anything. Because whatever they're doing right now ain't workin'.

Ok cool, let's have a thought exercise. You continue to not accept losing. Ok, they lost. What are you going to do about it? Oh, nothing. I see. But you're definitely not accepting it. That much I can tell. Also, I'm still here. You're probably not accepting that either with your usual result.

They Flames have the lead in 3rd spot and in the wild card spot heading into the all star break...They certainly control their own destiny

Object is to ascend up the standings and that's what exactly the Flames point total has done over the last 11 games.
31 teams out of 31 would take a 18 out of 22 points pace.

I'd have it rewatched but Hamilton is the most conservative defencemen out there. Without Gio beside him he'd be in trouble. There's a reason he's not on the ice in OT, and only scored the goal as Brodie was in the box. But for his raw skill set he should be out there.
So him handling the puck like a grenade in crunch time is not surprising.

I dunno, I hear that argument a lot, or rather sports cliche, but I think its more important to beat the teams you are competing with. This loss stings bad because its 4th loss in a row, albeit in OT/SO, and its ####ing Edmonton but in regards to the playoffs the loss to the Kings was worse. I doubt we look back at the season and point this out as a significant loss, particularly with the point we took regardless. If we lose big games to Anaheim/LA/LV then thats what we’ll be talking about. Hopefully they come out of the break and reverse their current #### fortunes.
