On the bright side, I'd rather go in to the break on a 7 game win streak than a losing streak of any kind.
I think it's an almost best case scenario. Honestly, what could be better, a one game win streak?

In regards to the Aho hit, at some point, players need to take responsibility for their own safety. It wasn’t a late hit. It wasn’t a flying elbow. Gio didn’t leave his feet. He stood his ground and led with the shoulder. Aho had his head down for at least 2 seconds trying to toe drag in the slot. I hope he is okay, but I will be livid if Gio gets a suspension out of this.

Can't wait till Hrudey gets back. Enough of this Oiler level commentating.

She's absolutely brutal.
It's almost like she's connected to someone or something keeping that gig going, oh...wait..

I think the fear about the break is overstated. With the league making everyone’s breaks in a 2 week window we are going to see everyone with the same “rust” if they are rusty. It’s just a matter of who shakes it off the quickest

So when Frolik comes back, does Brouwer go back to the 4th line or should Frolik go down there to give the team more depth through the rest of the forward lineup?

It's weird reading all the outage from canes fans on the Gio hit. Yeah, it was a head shot, but Gio clearly wasn't out to hurry Aho. It deserves a game or two at the most.
If you're trying a junior toe drag into the centre of ice directly in front of the net, you better have your head up and be prepared to get hit.

Peters said he doesn't think there was intent because Gio's arm was low.
Aho got a tough lesson to learn today for trying to get too cute when cruising in front of the opponents net with your head pointed down.

Awesome win today, just got home from my daughters birthday so was not watching live. She was extra pumped when I told her that we made it 7. Her response was classic "Haha, there is no way the Spoilers will catch us now!"
Thanks to everyone post on the game thread I got to "watch" the game today when I had a free moment. So great that we all have CP to check up on when you cant listen too or watch the game. Thanks guys and gals!

Concerned when Frolik gets back where they are going to put Brouwer because the 3rd and 4th lines don't have a Backlund to correct the errors.
4) I like Cassie Campbell. Really enjoy her commentary. Don't know where the hate comes from.
5) I think the break isn't a bad thing right now. Hopefully they use the rest appropriately
|
A lot of people get annoyed at Cassie because she comes across as such a NHL homer - company man so to speak. I think as she becomes more experienced and gains more confidence in expressing her own opinions she will only get better. She has already improved.

Anywhere to see the Gio hit? I checked NHL.com, and maybe I'm dumb, but I couldn't find it.
I got home just in time to see Hamilton's goal after the 'Canes hit the post and thought they scored. That was awesome and such a back breaking goal for Carolina.

Flames win 4-1! 7 in a row!
There better not be a suspension on Gio or they might as well make it a no contact league. When you have 10 guys skating around at 20 km/hr, wearing hard plastic armor, even on a clean hit, guys are gonna get hurt every now and then. That was 100% clean. Gio’s shoulder into Aho’s chest while Aho was busy looking down at the puck. There shouldn’t be a suspension just because the guy got hurt. 5 and a game was overzealous; suspension worthy? Now way. Loved Gulutzan ripping into the refs after that. Seems like he’s starting to get a bit more of an edge.
