Ya the event where you could pencil in the Gold Medal game right now.
Riveting stuff.

Women's Olympic hockey is best vs best. This is scrubs vs scrubs. Huge difference.

I probably won't watch this live because of the crazy time zone difference. But otherwise, sure, why not. It's the Olympics...I'll pretty much watch anything.

Maybe in the final, not in the earlier rounds. Canada team 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.8.9, and 10 would be best on best. OK maybe USA 2 and 3...
This mens team will test the depth of Canadian hockey. If the Russians are allowed to play, they are really only missing a few players in the NHL so it could get interesting.

That is the best we could do !? That is one ugly roster. I think good WHL teams could beat them.

It's a bit different now that we've seen how good "no excuses" tournaments are.

This team would put up a 10-spot on a WHL team... this team would be a good AHL team.

In your perception?
Because this team would beat a women's all star team by about 15 goals. By any measure, this will have better players with more skill.

People actually watch the juniors and see boneheaded mistake after boneheaded mistake right? That's what separates teenage atheletes from professionals. Yeah they can skate fast and it's exciting when they play each other, but a CHL team would get manhandled by this squad.

As if my excitement couldn’t get much lower, they announce max lapierre as part of team canada. Between the time difference, lack of best on best, and now that pos, I’m not sure I care to even watch. Horrible player, dangerous, dirty, awful.

Women's hockey is also 99% guaranteed to be Canada vs USA in the gold medal match.
Could just pare the women's tournament down to one game.
At least with the men's there is some intrigue on how it will play out.

Of course they would. That's comparing apples to oranges and besides the point.
Womens Olympic hockey is a true best on best. The men's is not. I'm not sure what the argument here is.

That's putting it lightly. Throw in contact and physical play and they would win by 50 goals. The overall game with these so called scrubs will still be the most skilled hockey at the Olympics period.

What's really weird is that best on best barely exists in any sport...ever. And when it does, half the games are blowouts because there are only a handful of teams that are able to compete.
But all of a sudden that is a huge roadblock to this tournament and people feel the need to crap all over it because of it.

I'm excited to watch this team. Who cares if they aren't NHLers. Actually, it's quite refreshing to see. Team Canada at the Spengler Cup is full of non-NHLers and that's a fun tournament to watch too.
Don't really give a crap if the Crosbys and McDavids aren't in this tournament. Let some other guys shine in the spotlight this time.

Yeah that's pretty obvious. You have no idea what you're even complaining about. Some vague perception of the concept of best on best being some sort of defining part of sports yet being totally unquantifiable and pretty much meaningless, which means absolutely nothing but somehow ruins the entire tournament for you...ok then.

Call me crazy but I think the London knights would have had a good shot in the memorial cup year.
