Naked swimming event coming to Calgary wave pool

As a regressive justice warrior let me say, just because I think that having this be an 18+ event is a completely reasonable condition I'm not about to sign a petition or get government intervention to stop this from happening. Maybe there is a 12 year old kid dragging their parents to this and not the other way around who knows.

I'd like to go to a nude resort or something one day to try it out because I think it would be fun, but it would have to 100% be adults only. I'm not comfortable being nude around kids because it's impossible for them to consent to that, no matter how "progressive" their parents are. PepsiFree and others can strawman that statement into me being anti-sex or anti-nude or any other false narrative about conservatives they want to spin but that's what it is.

There is nothing sexual about it so why can’t a 12 year old consent to it? If it was sexual I would obviously agree with you.

Nudity is sexual to some people and not others. Which is why many nudist organizations, clubs, and spas carefully vet and prescribe who can participate. As I pointed out up thread, most nudist resorts allow only couples, or single people invited and sponsored by couples. Why do you think that is? Why do you think nudist organizations themselves take these precautions?

Or another way is having strict rules about making others uncomfortable I.E being kicked out with no chance of defending if seen doing or someone complaining of inappropriate behaviour. I do agree with people who say though that the majority of kids that are in the teenage years are going to want to go anyways and seeming the majority of parents are decent parents, they will not bring them anyways. The kids that will go probably have been raised that there is nothing wrong with being naked around other people.

The rules you mention are common in swinger type resorts. Nudist resorts tend to be strictly non-sexual, and don't usually have such rules and are often family friendly.

Seems to me people who support the event are more outraged that differing opinions on the event exist. Everyone should agree with them. I think most people only offered an opinion because it's a thread on CP.

Hope they all have fun. The event is for those folks comfortable enough to pull it off. We just happen to be one of the conservative cultures, which is too bad because relaxing is pretty fun. I'd imagine the majority of the people in the city that will cause an uproar will be sitting behind their keyboard or phone at home for those hours anyways, so shouldn't be an issue.

I'm not seeing that. What I see is that while others are allowed to have a differing opinion, a lot of the "Wow, clutch those pearls a little tighter why don't'cha" commentary seems to be directed at those who have a differing opinion, and therefore want to shut the event down and make sure that no one goes.

I saw a lot of "I wouldn't go or take my kids [possibly for reasons], but if someone is comfortable doing that, more power to them" style posts (which, really, is what the only response should be)

Not a single post here is advocating to shut the event down. People who aren't zealously supporting the event are basically repeating the same two things, and people who are zealously supporting it keep misconstruing them.

1. Children at a naked event is wrong and this event should be 18+
2. Spending time with people naked for no other reason other than being naked is weird, but at the same time, who cares. They are adults.

It's weird because the two nudy groups in Calgary have been holding such events for decades now.

I think though what set this one to OUTRAGE mode is the amount of available information concerning the event. This is the first event I've known of where the location was made public. Now people can actually imagine some guy going down the SLC waterslide.
