Bennett didn't play with Stajan. He played with Brouwer as a centre.

Freddie Hamilton got several looks with the Flames, quite simply he did not stand out. He was just meh. ARZ picking him off waivers free's up a spot.

Absolute garbage article by garbage journalist Eric Francis this morning about the situation. I'm not even going to link it, and I hope no one else does. His attempt to create something out of nothing makes the Hamiltons look bad, when that is absolutely not the case.

I've never really been mad at a Francis article before, but he can go #### himself for writing that. Absolutely embarrassing something like that got published.

Didn't mind it. It's everything i thought the situation was. Freddie should have been in the minors last year, let alone making the team this year.

Also in this day and age answering questions to media is part of the job description for pro athletes. It wasn't a very hard question to answer. They were not looking for his innner most thoughts on the subject. All he had to say was " he will be missed in Calgary, but he has a good opportunity in Arizona".

Agreed, thought the article was fine.

Freddie situation should have corrected months ago....

Friedman on the morning show speculating Hamilton and Arizona.

Seems like just pure connect the dots speculation. Friedman more or less saying there isn’t anything to this.

Does say Treliving is considering a lot of things.

Sorry - but he's not creating something from nothing - what he writes is well known information already out there - and it was a ridiculous arrangement. While many here like to think BT fleeced the Bruins - that's nonsense - the Bruins traded Hamilton for reasons we will never know for sure - but i would suspect one reason was D Hamilton insisting his brother takes a roster spot - and so the Bruins shipped him out for a collection of high draft picks. Calgary was willing to give the roster spot for the chance to land a young promising blue liner - and so now here we are.

Like i said earlier - if D Hamilton doesn't like what happened - he's the next to go - likely to the Coyotes.

You mean just speculation. There is nothing well known or confirmed about the entire thing. Bottom line is Freddie, listening to all the coaches and players, was a pro. He was the 13th or 14th forward and came every day and practiced hard without sulking or bitching.

For what it's worth, Dougie was smiling a mile wide and joking with my kids after the game last night. Granted none of them asked about his brother with a microphone and tv camera in his face...

This all seems like a tempest in a teapot to me.

You must have skipped Wes Gilbertson s article as well. Dougie's future play will determine if he looks bad. Who gives a rats ass about a fringe 4 th liner!

Freddie Hamilton being with the team last year was not a big deal.

He was the 3rd leading scorer in Stockton in 15-16 behind Agostino and Grant. Both of those guys left the organization that off-season, so he was the highest scoring AHL guy in the org. Basically the exact guy you'd expect to get a role with the team.

This year was a bit of different story but that is more because of Stajan losing all NHL ability. F.Hamilton being around kept him in the line-up more than needed because they don't trust either Lazar or F.Hamilton to play centre so they had no replacement.

I'm always a "grass is always greener" type but I think a Hamilton for OEL kind of deal helps everyone. Dougie gets to play with Freddie, OEL comes in and becomes the most perfect partner ever made for Hamonic, Brodie and Giordano are reunited.

I think if the Flames do trade Dougie they should be targeting a top young forward in return.

For fun if we are trading him to Arizona I would want something like Domi+Duclair+our conditional pick back from Smith, and the Yotes 2018 2nd.

Flames get a solid top 6 winger that is 23, a reclamation project in Duclair and a high 2nd back. The Flames also get back the 2nd/3rd pick they would have to give up for Smith. The 2nd from the Yotes would be in the 30’s as well.

I like the trade, albeit incredibly onesided for us.

Except the Flames can't afford to give up another first rounder and any deal for OEL would start at Hamilton and a first rounder and probably go up from there.

OEL is just categorically better than Hamilton at the game of hockey. Phoenix isn't looking to straight up downgrade.

Am I underrating Domi?

He is a 50-55pt winger on pace for less than 40pts this year. Duclair wants out and he hasn’t been able to stick in the nhl after a good rookie year.

I don’t think it is one sided

Wouldn't put it past Chayka while he's on a budget.

OEL is going to want some big dollars while Dougie is on a value deal. Every player has two parts to him; his ability and his contract.

There were likely 20 teams that wanted Luongo. But no one wanted to touch that contract with a 10 ft pole.
