Flashes in the 4 games he played that season? That’s the sample size you’re using for your analysis?
GG picked him in the preseason then buried him, but played him 26 times last year? Right.
He’s a serviceable 4th liner player who happens to also provide stability to his brothers mental well being in some form, which is why he was acquired from Colorado 28 months ago, and remained in this team and in the city of Calgary for the last 16+ months as his brothers roommate, playing sporadically, when many other 4th liners have come and gone to Stockton and back or are no longer in the organization.

There’s probably a bunch of other examples as well that I can’t think of.

Now you are just making things up. Dougie Hamilton did no such thing. What he said (without any prep time) wasn't that bad. Plus Fred had been waived without takers before so it was probably more of a surprise that you'd think.
But that article was wrong about more recent trades of brothers. Plus it didn't mention the Staals (though that was being traded away form one brother to join another).
"It's tough, you never want to lose a teammate, and when it's your brother it makes it a little bit more tough," Jamie Benn said after the Stars morning skate prior to their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday (8:30 p.m. ET; FS-SW, ROOT, NHL.TV). "We all understand that it's a business and if we had a better season going on here, we wouldn't put ourselves in this situation and we'd be bringing players in instead of losing them."

When was Richie moved by Calgary other than to the minors?

According to this, he was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo between Omaha and the Flames. Then he apparently has a concussion and was not signed in the off-season.

No, I'm not making things up. Did you watch his interview? The perception I got from the video was that he sounded pretty bitter. Jamie Benn's answer sounded more of what I expect from a professional hockey player rather than just blowing off the reporters. His brother has been claimed by an actual NHL team and will be playing more games and more minutes. Dougie should at least appreciate that his brother will be still playing in the NHL rather than in minors down in Stockton. Like I said, that clip of him doesn't dispel any past rumors or articles that I have seen.
As for Freddie and Richie, I would expect Dougie to have a similar reaction to Freddie being sent down to the minors. I'm pretty sure he's more miffed about the fact that he won't be living and playing with Freddie anymore or even in the same country. Both situations appear to be quite similar.

I think Dougie should have at least acknowledged that. Based on his reaction, I can see where all the stories and articles are coming from. This certainly doesn’t dispell the rumors. All I can say is that as a professional hockey player who is getting paid millions of dollars, his play better not drop off because we’re gonna be in tough the rest of the season with how close the standings are and we need everybody on their A games.

I don't think the onus is on Dougie is to dispel any rumors.

Plus, the situations were way different. Benn was asked the day after the trade, whereas it seemed like the reporters caught Dougie off guard an hour later. Plus, Benn was a guy that was likely to move that year because of the expansion draft, whereas, I suspect the Hamiltons thought a claim was unlikely because of the previous waiver.
I think he was more irritated about being bugged about it right away, but in any event, I think I will grant him a half day or so to get over it.

That’s true and I doubt he cares. But there’s a lot of people who also dismiss the rumors and articles, but is it possible that there’s some truth to it? You couldn’t competely dimiss it from what we’ve seen.

I’m assuming we’ll be seeing the “D.” dropped from Hammy’s jersey from this point?

"Flames Strip "D" from Hamilton as part of shake-up"
There's your Sportsnet headline.

"Hamilton gives Gulutzan the D" would be a pretty funny headline

We have seen nothing to support that he is going to sulk about his brother being traded, other then some posters you choose to interpret this interview as such.
Now granted I have not seen the interview, so if someone could link it I'll definitely take a look at it and eat crow if in fact he does appear to ''whine'' about it. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is not the case.
If someone get let go at my job and then shoved a microphone in my face and asked me to comment on it, yeah I'd be a bit choked up as well and might not respond exactly how an online message board wants me to respond.

Exactly. And it would be even worse if it was your brother.
Seems pretty self-explanatory.

Tired of how this team has run the roster this year.
Jankowski should have been here on day 1.
Hathaway should have been here on day 1.
Lazar should be playing ahead of Brouwer and Stajan.
Kulak should have been playing on day 1, and should never be scratched in favour of Bartkowski.
...at the end of the day Hamilton was a 13th forward, so whatever, but the way things have been handled still annoys me.
|
To add to that Sam should not have been playing with F#$@%g Brouwer and Stajan for so long. Mangaipana hopefully doesn't have to suffer the same fate. Dam near ruined the kid and I thought he was on the verge of leaving the team. How many solid prospects have the Flames f@#$%ed up over the years?
