I for one am happy for Freddie, who is the real winner in all this. He showed flashes for us two seasons ago playing RW under Hartley, then earned himself a roster spot the next year with a solid preseason. Gulutzan has buried him since then. He gets a fresh start in Arizona to prove he wasn't just being kept on an NHL roster for nepotistic reasons.

I've commented in the past that it was complete trash that it was a 'stipulation' of Dougie signing here. First of all, Dougie was acquired first. And second I've asked multiple times for someone to provide evidence of this so-called rumor and not a single person on CP could provide any proof other then the morning show discussed it one day, and now a Damian Cox article (the worst hockey writer in the business).
Did they like playing with each other? Of course, who wouldn't' want to play in the NHL with their brother. Would an NHL agent make it a condition to a team ready to sign a player to a 25+ million dollar deal that their 13th forward brother HAD to be there or they don't sign? Of course not.
This isn't the Sedin's where both brothers were MVP calibre players and they can make demands like that. This is a top pairing D and a 13th forward making just over minimum salary.
Anyone who believes a professional athlete would pass up on millions of dollars and a chance to play top minutes would make it a condition to ensure he played with his brother needs to give their head a shake and accept a slap to the teeth..
This ''rumor'' needs to die a horrible death. More than anything it's offensive to both Hamilton players, who have showed nothing but class their entire tenure here, never complained, and played big roles in the community.

Doubt its a favour. The Coyotes had to pay $26k to the Flames to grab him off waivers. If it was a favour the Flames would have traded him to the Coyotes for future considerations where the future considerations was nothing instead of having to pay $26k to accomplish the same thing.
I suppose, but as a fan with zero insight into any real world behind the scenes knowledge it's fun to speculate that CSEC now has a $26k expense for Playstation Store gift cards, gift baskets, and shipping to Glendale.
What’s really interesting is that Peter Loubardias on the radio said that the guys asked Dougie what his thoughts were on Freddie getting claimed and he said he didn’t want to talk about. Sounds like he’s either pissed or sad or both or something. I could see this affecting his play which would be unfortunate.

But thats not unexpected. It is sad for him. He was playing with his brother, which must have been awesome, now hes not, which likely sucks.
The writing was always on the wall but asking him about it hours after it happens a reaction like this should be expected.
He'll get over it. Everyone does. Just maybe not in the next few hours.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
The clip of him answering the question is on TSN for anyone who wants to draw their own conclusions. My opinion? He looked miffed to start, but repeating the same line over and over a la Marshawn Lynch seems like his kind of humor so who knows.
They were unrelated. Source: grew up with ####tier one.
Theres one worse than the one who Captained the Oilers? Thats pretty grim.
Yeah, I was wrong about that one, hopefully that doesnt mean I have to kill a sheep at centre ice. I dont even want to contemplate how many felonies that entails.

We’ve seen lots of brothers in this league play with eachother and move on to other teams. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard any player seem so bitter about his brother moving on to a different organization who by the way will be getting way more games and more ice time. I think Dougie should have at least acknowledged that. Based on his reaction, I can see where all the stories and articles are coming from. This certainly doesn’t dispell the rumors. All I can say is that as a professional hockey player who is getting paid millions of dollars, his play better not drop off because we’re gonna be in tough the rest of the season with how close the standings are and we need everybody on their A games.

Have you heard anyone asked right after the move?
Anyway, what are the examples? The Schenn brothers were split up in 2016 and according to this article they were the first in 14 years at the time. They took it well, but there were trade rumours going non all that season.

At least it doesn't have far to fall if his level does drop this year.

Yes and Freddie was already waived earlier this season so it’s not like this is out of the blue either. As for other brothers, off the top of my head the Benn brothers were split up just last season, the Kostitsyn brothers were split up, I don’t remember Robyn Regehr making a big fuss over moving Richie. There’s probably a bunch of other examples as well that I can’t think of.
