Coyotes GM John Chayka said the main reason to claim Freddie Hamilton off waivers was to add depth & allow the team to keep its young players developing in Tucson instead of shuttling between the NHL & AHL due to roster needs.

They terminated Emerson Etem's contract a few days ago because he wanted out. Likely Freddie is Etem's replacement.

As its been suggested, if this is in fact true and Dougie's play suffers because of it the Flames won't have much of an issue moving him and Arizona is a pre-configured trade partner given recent events.

Additionally, if its Damien Cox reporting anything I would take the opposite as being true.
