The last 1.5 seasons have been underwhelming, that's it. And you wonder whether it's distractions or between the ears issues that have caused complacency and the inconsistency because flashes are there, but it's come down to that from solid extended stretches of past seasons.
|
Hey Goldie..... The last 30 games that Brodie played last year were not underwhelming.
30 games 19 pts +6 Team high 23:34 min/game.
Then he was likely the best Flame D-man over the 4 playoff games.

Just so we're clear, we're both taking about the 0.88 PPG - 21 points in 24 playoff games Alexander Radulov right? The Radulov who was over a PPG in the playoffs last year? The Radulov with 2.4 pts per 60, the same as Sean Monahan? Yeah he's no good clearly, must be the -ov last name that's tipped you off.
The one you've arbitrarily decided wouldn't help their team win. The one who'd be third in Flames scoring. The one who had a higher playoff PPG last year than anyone on the Flames save Monahan.

Whatever happens Treliving better not dare give away anymore of our 1st or 2nd round picks. I'm sick of it. Our prospect pool is gonna be really hurting in a couple years (it's not all that great right now as it is)

Well good news is he couldn’t trade a 2nd round pick if he wanted to.

Points! Argument over!
The memories of watching him raise the Cup will will stay with me forever.
The fact that other people value things differently than you does not make their views arbitrary. Instead of simply presenting your own views, you feel the need to sarcastically and passive-aggressively attack other posters, even though you've been called out on it countless times. Grow up, accept that people have different opinions than you, and don't be an asshat about it.
Apologies, mods. I'm done here.

To be fair you did distinctly say 'Let's see what he brings in April" which someone would have to believe meant playoffs. Then Tinordi pointed out what a monster playoff performer he is statistically.
I know points aren't everything but it would be very difficult to say Radulov isn't a strong help to a playoff team, and then to flippantly suggest "Well, where's his cup then" is absurd, but I think you know that.
Nobody likes the way Tinordi contributes his points on CP, nobody, but it seems in this case you just had something wrong about a player (assumed he wasn't a playoff performer), it's okay for posters sometimes to just say "You know what? I had that wrong, instead of doubling down.

Fair points, but I don't think I had something wrong. I know how many points he got last year, I still don't want him on my team. Semin got points sometimes too. Lots of players that I would never want on my team have had a playoffs where they got some points. Changes nothing with respect to what my issues are with the player.

First, Kane is overrated. I don't like hot-cold players. Yes, he plays with speed, and he can score, and he is physical - all attributes that I personally love in players.
However, he doesn't do those at a high level.
Fact: He has scored more than 50 points ONCE. (2011-12)
Fact: He has scored 30 goals (exactly, BTW) ONCE. (2011-12)
That's not elite. He has scored 20 or more goals twice since then, and it looks like he might hit his career high on goals (on a contract year) if things continue working out for him, but this is not an elite player, but he will be commanding elite money.
For the above, I take him on my team any day if the price is right. However, I want him nowhere near the Flames.
Why do people keep posting that he has 'grown up'? That his past behaviors are behind him? Can I get some evidence backing that up? From his time in Buffalo, he has been involved in not one, but two court appearances for assaulting women.
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/eva...190016589.html
That suggests that he is at least getting into trouble, or that trouble is following him around.. or that he is putting himself in situations that he shouldn't be putting himself into. I don't believe the civil suit is over with either, but not quite sure about that.
Then he had those restaurant rumors in Winnipeg that people accused him of simply walking out on the bill. How so many fans in Winnipeg soured on him not because of performances, but from off-ice encounters. How he is not particularly endearing to his teammates... the tracksuit incident...
There is just a whole lot happening around Evander Kane. I am not talking about the (un)funny cellphone of money, or push-ups with money tweets. There just seems to be a lot of stuff at the very least following Evander Kane around that I prefer not subjecting the Flames' players to. That kind of stuff is distracting. There are quite a number of young impressionable players too.
He may indeed be 100% innocent of everything he has ever been accused of, but the simple matter of it is that trouble does keep following him around. He is not that talented of a player to make me want the Flames to give up what Buffalo is wanting to get for him, and I don't think he is deserving of the contract he will probably end up getting this upcoming off-season as a UFA.
Simmonds, Neal, Landeskog, whomever else has been involved in rumors in the last 12 months - sure. Look at them and see if it makes sense. But Evander Kane? No thanks. I would rather not gamble on trouble or locker room issues erupting and having that kind of a distraction, when he isn't even THAT good. Especially not as good as what Buffalo thinks they can get for him.
Brings me around to this idea:
If Kane is so good, and considering he is still relatively young, why then is Buffalo set on trading him? Shouldn't he remain a piece of the puzzle for them?

Obviously we don't have the picks to go for Kane or another scoring forward.
I wonder if Rittich's emergence and the continued hype around Parsons makes Gillies expendable. I would think he holds a decent amount of trade value, and Buffalo can't be happy with Lehner. Do the Sabres have any good goalie prospects?

pretty obvious at this point that if the Flames are trying to build a team with character people, good solid guys, etc. Then Kane is not a fit. At all.

If the Flames really want this guy then make a run at him in free agency. I don't see the need to give up assets for half a season and possibly lose him in July for nothing. I could actually somewhat understand the team wanting to trade for him if they are leading their division and at the top of the conference as a player that puts them over the top but when you are outside the playoffs looking in it reeks of desperation and the last time a team made a trade like that was Ottawa weeks ago and that move hasn't done anything to turn their season around.

I assume that everyone who advocates for signing Kane is wanting him extended here. So here's the question - how much is he going to make in his new contract? He already makes $5.25M and I doubt he is asking for the same money, given his big production this year. Will he be happy making less than Gio, Johnny and Monahan? I can't see him getting a bigger contract than them. Someone is going to give Kane stupid money and while this year he's been great, his track record is spotty IMO.

That is the (multi) million dollar question. I'd only trade for him if he agreed to a reasonable contract. I think it has to be less than 6 mill if he wants more, not worth it.

I'd rather spend 6 mil on JVR than Kane.

JVR is more gettable and more affordable than Kane. I think he's peaked though. And he has a 10 team NTC.
Cam Atkinson has to be re-signed by the BJs, and their GM is pretty tough. Only makes $3.5 now, and he's off to a bit of a slow start. Is he as good as his numbers last year or is he a product of Wennberg and Panarin?

I feel like you haven’t watched Radulov play very much and just have a bias against him.
He is nothing like Semin at all. He plays a hard game and is constantly going to the dirty areas. Claiming that the Flames are buttery soft therefore they don’t need Radulov is absurd. He would actually make us tougher to play against while adding some offense.
Off topic, but wanted to throw my two cents in
