I think this is a good observation. I hate comparing the CFL to the NFL as its apples and oranges. But in the NFL you would have 11 guys busting their ass to make the tackle on that play, which everyone knew was a seismic shift in the outcome of a championship. You never know what will matter in the outcome of a game.

And then again they would have had 1 more point and could have kicked the FG to win at the end.

Special teams took some bad penalties. The illegal man downfield as you say cost them two points. Also while TSN didn’t show it the Stamps committed a 10 yard penalty for illegal participation on the Argos punt return on their game winning FG drive. Add ten yards and you never know in those conditions if the FG is automatic for the Argos kicker.

Same boat as you man. Didn't think anyhting could hurt more than last year but here we are. This has officially passed last year and 2004 SCF game 6 as the worst calgary team loss for me.
One of the big downsides is this overshadows a monster game by Davaris Daniels who I've felt for a long time is our best receiver. It'll be interesting seeing what happens to the receiver core next year, I really don't care if McDaniel or Jorden come back. Parker too. Hopefully we can move forward with Daniels, Durant, as some other gems Hufnagel unearths.

Yeah, this really stings. The thing is, I honestly don't think you change too much. Having a team that dominates the regular season, gets you to the Grey Cup, is what you want and need year in and year out. It gives you the best opportunity to win it all than putting your faith into an underdog team. The problem is the more this happens, the fewer chances you're going to get as that window closes, as guys move on for a bigger payday, take their shot at the NFL, etc.
Bo Levi Mitchell has led the team to the Grey Cup in 3 of 4 years he's been a starter. That's huge - especially on an off year this year. But this year especially, it wouldn't have happened if not for the stellar play of the defence. Hopefully that group comes back in tact.

10 years of Huff running the show.
13-5-0
10-7-1
13-5-0
11-7-0
12-6-0
14-4-0
15-3-0
14-4-0
15-2-1
13-4-1
130-47-3 record.
6 1st place finishes
3 2nd place finishes
1 3rd place finish
Only 10-8 in the playoffs, and 2-3 in the Grey Cup
Only TWO measly Grey Cup championship to show for being the class of the league for 10 seasons now.
Should be Grey Cup champs 3 out of 4 seasons now and a legitimate dynasty, but instead we've lost two straight Grey Cups to garbage football teams with a combined 17-18-1 records.
Teams that got a bye to the division final, then got to host the division final, then got to have the Grey Cup in what was basically their own backyard despite their terrible regular seasons. Meanwhile the Stamps had to travel all the way across the country to play despite having 1st overall locked up weeks in advance of the playoffs.
Despite all that, they still had the ability and opportunity to win those games and just choked.
So many, many chokes the last 30 years. It's unbelievable.
People say, "well you won in 2001 when you were a total underdog"
Well I would trade that Grey Cup for the ones in 93, 94, 95, 15 and 16 in a heartbeat.

The Stamps are like the Alouettes from 1999 to 2008.
7 1st place finishes and only 1 Grey Cup until they finally won two in a row in 09 and 10.

Is Dickey fired yet? Absolute worst coach and offensive coordinator in crunch time. Couldn't hack it for the Stamps as a player in crunch time and he definitely cannot hack it as a coach.
Good riddance!

Dickenson is 28-6-2 as head coach in the CFL. 30-8-2 if you include the playoffs.
He is not getting fired and if he did he'd be snapped up by another team in an instant.
It's frustrating but the best thing for Huff to do is make minor tweaks like usual and bring back the majority of the best team in the league and try again.

This if the CFL it's not like there is a long line of great coaches out there. I hate Jones but he's one and he's not going anywhere. Trestman isn't leaving Toronto. If you want to fire DD who should take his place? Jeff Garcia?

So for the people advocating kneel, kneel kick a field goal. Would you be wanting to lynch DD if the snap had been fumbled on the field goal attempt. A Fumble after a reception and a missed short field goal probably occur at a similar rate. Maybe you get a single but you already had one botched snap and conditions are poor so a bad snap is more likely than normal.

I think more people would be mad about kneeling. Stupidity like that would've gotten DD fired before the game ended let alone after. On the other hand if they had done that, the Stamps are likely GC champs so maybe not.

I don't count 95 as a choke, as we had to meet a 15-3 Baltimore juggernaut in the GC who didn't have to comply with Canadian ratios, and thus were absolutely stacked on the lines. But point taken.
Also don't forget '13, when in the WF vs the Riders at McMahon, it snowed hard and looked like the Stamps had never seen snow before, who basically gifted the Riders a Grey Cup that year. What was it, like 8 fumbles? Unreal.
And 2005, the first year of their resurgence under Huff's return, with Burris, Cope, Nik, Rambo, Joffrey, etc, they had a big lead on Edmonton in the WF and looked poised to win a Cup. Cue the collapse..
So basically since the beginning of my Stamps fandom (which started in '91), I've seen 3 Stamps teams underdog their way to a GC appearance (91, 01, 12), winning one of them. And 8-9 where they should've won it but faltered in the playoffs. Oof

No one is getting fired over this. Argos should just thank Jorden and savor a fluke Grey Cup.
Ottawa last year at least played well. Argos points were 6 from a long throw, 2 off safety, 6 off fumble recovery. Half their points are luck/fluke.
This team is built for long-term success. Once they win one, I can see multiple wins afterwards. Bo will still be there and looks like Singelton will be there to anchor the D as well.
It sucks but at least the Eskimos or the Riders didn't win.
2 years of bitterness will only make the next one that much more sweeter.

You mean like Cam Newton and his all out effort trying to recover that fumble in the super Bowl two years ago?

Good. Take him and his idiotic play calling with him. I hope we play against him in the grey cup! I called him out all year on his pathetic play calling. He even got a 2nd chance in this game. He'll never learn and i can't really blame him as he prob has massive CTE from his playing days.
I don't care if he went 36-0 in the regular season. None of that matters.
This team just choked away 2 grey cups. We need some major changes. Next year the grey cup is in Edmonton. So a high chance of bad weather once again.
Defence can stay the same. They weren't a problem. Our QB and special teams isnt' a problem.
Out with Dickenson, Messam, MacDaniel, Parker, and Jorden. And probably Buckley too.
