Wow that hurts. This has to be the biggest Stamps choke in a history of big chokes. They are definitely the Braves of the CFL.
Also the CFL division format is stupid. Nothing wrong with a .500 team going on a run to win the cup but they should have to do it the hard way without a bye and home semi.

Yeah that was tough. Way to kick your teammate when he is down. The interview Jorden gave was hard to watch. You can tell he already feels like crap about it. It's not like he was shrugging it off. He was taking all the blame and his teammates were just piling on.
Contrast that with the Argos where all the players were very emotional talking about the love they have for their teammates and how great their team as people are(I know they won the cup, but still, interviews before seemed to give off that same feeling)
Argos have a great group of guys and glad they won it!
Ricky Ray seems like such a nice guy. Glad he won again.

This is the problem with the CFL.
The playoffs should have been
Calgary bye
Winnipeg Bye
Ottawa @ Edm
Tor @ Sask
Does Toronto even get out of Sask on the road with no bye and if they do they play a rested Calgary team in the west final on the road.

not sure if this has been mentioned, but after the fumble, Bo "I will never run the ball" Mitchell made a very half hearted attempt at getting the Argo out of bounds. It was very Cam Newton like, when he just stood there and didn't try to recover the fumble. Mitchell other than the last throw played great but if that was Mike Reilly, that Argo would have been knocked out of bounds at the 20 or 30 yard line.

I never understood the fans that continue to blast Mitchell for not running. Have you seen him run with the ball? He's the slowest guy on the field and while a great thrower of the ball is not athletically gifted at the art of running with a ball in his hands. I'm fine with him occasionally running for a first down here or there but with the game on the line he's the last person I want running with the ball. He's never going to be Henry Burris or Mike Reilly and I don't understand why some fans seem to think it's a mental thing that he hates to run with the ball. He's simply not able to do that well.

I agree, I don't think he should run much at all but if he has a chance to run for a first down, then he needs to do it even its once a game or once every 2 games. I agree that needs to be a last resort for him, but he is so defiant about it. he isn't fleet of foot but his effort on the fumble recovery was in my opinion very half hearted. He played great and had the team in position to win, so I am very positive towards his play overall but I don't think he gave his all on that play.

In all honesty we should be talking about a DYNASTY this morning. It's simple last year they weren't prepared and this year the one fumble cost them the game. It's really ####ty that back to back years the Grey Cup was in Ontario where the Stamps always seem to have trouble winning. If that game is played in BC place were having a different conversation this morning. But it's not and Toronto also had to play in the snow so hats off to them I guess. We sure are lucky that the ref called a block in the back against Hamilton or else they would be 0-3 in GCs with BLM.

was thinking the exact same thing, they almost gave that one away as well. will be interesting to see where Hufnagel goes from here, there might be players on the team who are free agents who might not want to come back after the back to back failures. This team is lucky to have a guy like Hufnagel though.

Having not watched any regular season games you have no meaningful opinion. You know it I know it and everyone who read your meaningless comment knows it.

If you think about it we almost did the same thing with Hamilton. If not for the debatably affective illegal block we would have no Grey cups in the last 4 appearances. You can look at that in a glass half empty have glass full kind of way though.

It didn't help that the Argos had planned for that play and had three defenders all over him immediately. He didn't give it to Messam last year and he commits the same mistake a year later. Hand it off to Messam for two straight plays and if you don't get in the end zone kick the FG and take an 11 point lead and force them to score twice in just over three minutes.

Wait, wait, wait.
You gotta walk me through that simple scenario at least 100 more times for me to understand. Safe plays until the clock runs out? Mind. Blown.

Yeah no doubt, unreal the Khari Jones era Bombers produced 0 Grey Cups too. You hear about the misery Bombers fans have had to endure since their last title in 1990, but those Winnipeg teams around the turn of this century were dominant.
Same with all those Als teams that couldn't win the big one until late in AC's career as mentioned earlier, I've never seen a league with more underdogs winning championships than the CFL.

I'm a casual CFL fan, and a fan of the Stamps simply by living in Calgary. I am disgusted not by the loss yesterday, but the piling on that is going on in the media about how the Stamps choked. Playing in the snow there were two big plays that were responsible for Argos win. Argos won by luck, pure and simple.
As for Bo going for it on the last play - maybe not executed correctly, but I applaud going for it, rather than just trying to tie. No guarantees of a win in OT. Just like going for it on 3rd down early - gutsy and appropriate play.
Probably the worst of all is listening to Gap Tooth talk on the TSN panel - clearly not over being punted out of Calgary. STFU.
Sad that the Stamps lost, but it was an enjoyable game to watch (as was last years game). I think we all know who the best team in the CFL has been for the last few years. And we know who the best QB has been.

Having media and fans come down on you for not meeting expectations comes with the territory of being the favorites. It's nothing against the Stampeders but more the annual situation they put themselves in where they are the best regular season team and lose to inferior opponents when it matters most. I see plenty of fans here unsympathetic to the Capitals for all the early playoff exists after winning all those presidents trophies. Just like the Bills in the 90's people on the outside are going to look at them as chokers. Think about that for a second. As bad as Stamps feel today they would still have to lose two more Grey Cups in a row to feel as bad as Buffalo fans did in the early 90's. Other fans have dealt with worse and there's not a lot you can do outside of move on and put this behind you.

to me that play was simply bad luck - the stamps fumble the ball, an argo player, picks it up, and has two blockers ahead of him, with a wide open sideline......
unfortunate that the stamps find the worst time to lose a game.
I will admit it was stunning watching macdaniel sit in his locker and blast jorden. trying to think of another time a guy was thrown under the bus like that - wether it was deserved or not.
all of this is coming from a bomber fan who is starting to think that I may never see the bombers win the cup again.

Junk coaching.

too me this is being way too harsh, and giving way too much weight to two games.

How much did that safety from the bad snap matter in the end too - bad snap (after a bad penalty) and the Argos score two, that doesn't happen and the Stamps are only down by 1 and kick the FG for the win. Or even the 1 point convert they took, which was a coaching decision I didn't understand - they were up by 7, with 1 point they were up by 8 and it's still a one score game, make the two-pointer and they are up by 9 and two scores. And then again they would have had 1 more point and could have kicked the FG to win at the end.

That's the first thing I noticed on the play. The lead Stamp made a good play to take out the blockers and force the ball carrier to cut inside. I thought to myself, why is that guy just jogging? He could have made the tackle with a little bit of effort.
