I'm thrilled if it's Rittich. The guy has never really been given a shot in the NHL, but he's done everything the organization asked and more.

This is also good because it would leave Gillies to start the majority of the games in the AHL. No idea what will happen to Lack yet, but if it's the minors, that's just fine to see if he can regain his form. He's still got the most NHL experience of anyone not named Smith in this franchise, so he could be a valuable asset if handled well. If he doesn't regain his form down there...oh well.

I think Parsons needs to spend the entire year in the ECHL. Dominate in that league, and then see how you do against AHL competition.

ANyone suspect that if Rittich performs sufficiently, Parsons will find his way up soon as a backup that plays regularly in Stockton?

Only if Lack is claimed on waivers. Otherwise, who doesn't play if Parsons goes to Stockon?

If Lack isn't claimed they have to send him down to bring Rittich up. That leaves Lack and Gillies in Stockton. Bringing up Parons creates another three-headed monster goalie jam.

nope. Lack is surely going to be there, and if not (because of a trade), my guess would be that McDonald goes to Stockton.

Parsons is still very young and his ECHL start was shaky. He's been lights out lately, but staying there for a whole year won't hurt him one bit. Let him make the jump to the AHL next year.

EDIT: Baseless concerns about Lack's contract from mis-reading CapFriendly. Lack can be buried at will until his contract expires at the end of the season.

I'm a little surprised that Rittich got the call, but only a little. AHL watchers have been singing his praises a while now, by all accounts I've read he's earned the opportunity to play here. I hope he runs with it.
Lack is UFA at the end of this season.

Huh? This is the final year of Lack's contract and the Flames are only paying him $1.375 million. They can bury all but $350,000 of that.

You don’t often hear stories about players not looking good in practice but we heard that about Lack. His performance in the few games was the icing on the cake unfortunately.

I don't buy that they want him to work on his game in Stockton. No contract beyond this year, not a prospect, no real reason to try and fix his game. My guess is - if he isn't claimed - he rides the bench in Stockton

Probably a good guess. They want Gillies to get lots of time to work on developing his game. They wouldn't want Lack stealing that time away from Gillies if Lack isn't going to turn his game around quickly.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
now
Lack on his way to Stockton. #Flames will be able to bury all but $350,000 of his cap hit in the AHL. Rittich officially recalled.

So Lack clears waivers. Was wondering whether a team could claim him since Carolina is still paying half his $2.75-million cap hit. Instead he'll go down and play some games

I think this is good for Lack, let him get into a grove by playing some games. Hopefully he'll rebound like Ramo did after he was sent down.

Jagr's instagram was also at that game but unrelated to Lack...

Lack should trade places with Parson.

I am a little surprised that Edmonton didn't claim him.
For all Eddie lacks as a goaltender, he is still an upgrade on Laurent Brossoit, no?

I believe they are at 49 contracts, i.e. only room for one more player. They would have to move out a body before bringing one in
