I really wanted Gillies back up, for some reason I just see him as having a brighter future. I am getting pretty excited though after hearing all the optimism. How great would it be to have a couple young goalies come through and light it up.

Yeah, I actually missed three: Backstrom, Danny Taylor, and Matt Keetley.

Taylor played 120:00 and Keetley played all of 9:22.

It would be great is Rittich can solidify the backup role. It would (obviously) be even better if one of Rittich, Gillies or Parsons eventually became a legitimate starter. The goalie carousel needs to end.
Vesa Toskala did not play more games for this team than Mike Smith, did he? And Berra? Wasn't he here for less than half a season?

25 years old.

Looks like the exact kind of goalie prospect that has earned a shot. Excited to see what he can do (can't be worse than Lack).
Took some time this season, but moves like Kulak (over Bartowski) and now Rittich (over Lack), shows the organization continuing to hold true on the value of meritocracy. Wish Rittich a rich NHL career; will settle for solid performances in limited appearances.

Berra played 1648:23 in 29 games his season. Mike Smith is current at 1097:29 in 19 games.

As for Toskala, I think I accidentally combined his TOI for both Calgary and Toronto that year. He only played 211:55 for Calgary.

Yeah, that's better. Toskala's placement ahead of Smith did not strike me as right.

I give credit to the players like Rittich and Jankowski who showed they were ready to play in the NHL. I’m having a hard time giving much credit to the GM for these bottom roster moves when the players he signed or traded for have played their way off the team.

A minor FYI...Steinberg just confirmed with Wills in Dallas that Rittich is pronounced...

Rittick.....not Rittich that rhymes with witch.

I was on the last pronunciation since the day he was signed.

Also, "David" is pronounced the Czech way -- "DAH-VID." (Rhymes with "avid.).

Don't have him sit around too long. Play him against the Avalanche. It would nice if was capable of giving Smith more nights off.

I can't wait for the photo-shopped Riddick movie posters!

I think the Flames rotate Rittich and Gillies from here on in (unless one of them really grabs the reigns).

Lack's time in the NHL is over.

I initially used Corsica Hockey for the stats. They didn't have all the goalies listed and were off on ice times. I'll have to remember to use someone else in the future.

Better hope someone grabs the reigns or we are in for Mike Smith playing 70 games if they only ever play the back-up on back to back games. Need to get confidence in someone who play and keep Smith's games down. He's not a spring chicken.

The Heat are in Tucson to play the Roadrunners tonight. I'm safely assuming Gillies gets the start.

Also, Dec. 9 is Mark Jankowski Bobblehead Night. Somehow, I don't think he'll be there for that.
