Who put Elliot in for GM4 only to pull him after a shot?

Not easy to criticize a coach during a winning streak. I get that, but let's not look past the fact that we had to score a ton of goals to win those games.
That's not much better than Hartley's team. Not that I miss Bob, he was a bad coach for the team too.

But whatever, we will see what he is made of in the playoffs. Last year he kept sending Bart to the slaughter, time and time again. 4 and out.....A good coach should have recognized that.

Not my line, but Gulutzan didn't go into the game planning to pull Elliott after one goal. He was always going to pull him after THAT goal.

He put a guy in that was a bad goal away from the end of his tenure on the team. Elimination game was just a cherry on top. It was dumb.

While true, we're really pretty middle of the pack in the league in GA, or not-terribly-below.

Definitely something we need to improve though.

Johnson had been playing like hot garbage for weeks. Who else was he going to put in?

Hah! I know, right? Propped up by our goaltending and our scoring. Without all our positives we're left with only our negatives. Smoke and mirrors.

still waiting for red to explain how this team is bad from a "non-fancy stats" perspective compared to other years

the only year this incarnation of the flames doesnt eclipse the points, gf and ga categories are from 14, where they trail by 2 loser points and 4gf, 6ga

He had no choice because Johnson had missed a lot of time to injury and played like crap since coming back.

Rockand a hard place...

Oh please. Smith is the team MVP, how many 40 shot against games did we win? And yes, we can totally expect to score 4 every game to win.

Winning 5-4 is not a positive. Gets more sketchy when your goalie was still the team's best player. Some structured D

You tell me. If you can ask, you can look it up. It's probably not as many as you think. He's won us a few games, but not all the games.

True, but Johnson had lost 0 games in the playoffs to that point. Could he have been worse than Elliot was?

I dont blame GG for the loss to the Ducks. We did have terrible goaltending but he didn't win any sympathy playing that pylon #44. -5 in 4 games and who knows how many more on the PK he was on the ice for.

LOL, checked the first 3 of the season

Smith was huge in most of the team's wins. Which is great, but shows how poorly the team really played.

Sure but what’s happening now. What happened in the first 3 games doesn’t have a ton of relevance.

So this is just the first 3 games? So... you're not going to bother with the rest? You're not doing a good job of trying to back up your point.

The Flames have allowed 40+ shots against 5 times this season and won 4 of them. The only loss was the opening game of the season.

They've allowed 30+ shots against 12 times and won 9.

In the five games where they've allowed the fewest shots against, they've lost 4.

Been 7 out of 20. Hmm...One being a 39 shot game for those that are going to call me out on it.

Both red wings and ottawa didn't really shoot after they scored 4-5 goals so these two games are below 40 shots, but can we give the D any credit for them?

Yes, the Flames bleed shots and scoring chances. GG did not fix that.

Would be nice if this team was really good at something. PP, PK, good D or score a ton. Anything. They are pretty average to below average at everything except goaltending.

There you go, I backed it up. Now tell me specifically what makes GG a good coach? What does this team do really well?

So, according to getbak we won 4 of 5 40+ shots against games. Not sure what the "7" means. You're now talking about "bleeding shots", but are you still talking about goaltending winning us most of our games? You talk about games we lost, Detroit and Ottawa, so not sure at all now what point you're trying to make. You're all over the place here.
