As Deluxe said, pretty small sample size to be making these types of assertions.

According to NHL.com his SV% is .857 on the season, which includes this nightmare game where he got hung out to dry and less than a full game’s worth of work outside of it. Definitely not in the “concerned” zone yet, he was fine the game previous.

A big part of statistics is statistical significance
Well you can defend him next year when he is playing in Europe

He is not an NHL quality goal tender

Only thing that worries me about this game is Lack. Yeah, the team didn't help him out much, but he didn't look that great either.

Other than that, debacles like this can bring a team together. They were already starting to turn a corner, maybe this catapults them. Or maybe it doesn't. I choose to look at the positives.

Refs lost control of the game. Plain and simple. I think they lost control, by trying to take control too.

That was bush league by those 2 Detroit players, absolute bush league. Id like to say that Id like to play them again, but you know for sure that if they met again this year, the league would put a stop to any nonsense. The game would be a penalty filled snooze fest.

Growing pains, but this team is too good for this to be the norm. The division is starting to tighten up, and they have put themselves in a position to make a run for 1st place, but they can't take all season to figure their crap out.

While its not his only job, having the team prepared to play is definitely part of what a coach does. Knowing when to scold, when to inspire. There is a human element to getting the most out of any employee. To put zero blame on GG for team preparedness is not realistic .

What did Troy Brouwer bring to the lineup tonight aside from his enormous cap hit?

What does he need to do, consistently, to be able to justify his spot in the lineup?

Ok. I do really think any goalie would have had a crap game behind this team tonight.

Flames need an upgrade. Can't just have a guaranteed loss every time the backup is in
Lack has a long history of getting peppered yet Gulutzen talks him up all the time like he is Patrick Roy. It is solely because of Gulutzen Lack is a Flame. Whatever this won't be the last time Lack starts and gets shelled early.

There is a reason this was his second start of the season and both were terrible

He has made one big save in three games

Smith would have lost tonight, I would have too

if I was in net they would have lost too...that doesn't mean there isnt a better option out there

I agree. NHL refereeing is at the same level as your spelling. (Sorry but I couldn't resist).

"We didn't get a big save" I'm not blaming this this loss on Lack but I'm sorry he was not good at all. But to defend your point the team was brutal tonight

GG is absolutely horrible at adjusting during a game.

You pull a goalie whose looking shaky at goal number 3, not 5. You also pull a goalie in hopes of some sort of spark on the team.

Brodie had an absolutely atrocious night.. after -4, you continue to put him on the first line pp, where he continued to lose the puck and could not gain entry. Also get Versteeg off the pp, he's soft as butter and loses the puck constantly. The only main contributors right now on the pp are Gaudreau/Monny/Ferly. Get Gio and Hamilton on the first unit. Hamilton is your most offensive D, yet he sees basically no pp time.

Change up the PK, I would rather see Kulak on there instead of stone. Janko/Lazar? Get some young legs in there who can keep up in there.

On a positive note, I was impressed with Jankowski tonight. You can see his confidence growing. Over 15 minutes of ice time tonight.

I am obviously no fan of Lack...but to pull him early for a guy who has been in the AHL all season with the way the team was going would have been a bad move.

It also wouldn't have changed a damn thing

Sorry I’m sure this has been covered in detail somewhere else but I listened to the tail end of the game in the car and Loubo implied the coach was away from the team yesterday due to a personal reason and joined the team late- not to absolve him of all guilt but am wondering if he wasn’t as involved in game day prep as usual-
The players and rest of the coaching staff wouldn’t be off the hook in this situation of course

Also teaching them to play a certin way is for practice. On game day his job is to prep the team for the opponent and make sure they are engaged/ready.
I have never, in my young life, worked in or known anyone who has had a boss that gets you “ready to work” when it’s time to do your job.

You come to work ready to work. That’s the expectation, whether you’re flipping burgers or playing hockey for hundreds of thousands of dollars or more a year.

Look at it this way. A university professor’s job is to teach, not to get the students ready to learn. It’s their job to provide the information that prepares them for the test, not literally sit there and make sure they take it all in and study enough.

When you’re adult, you come ready when you’re supposed to be ready. There’s no one out there holding your hand. Guys like Tkachuk? They come ready, you can tell. He’s getting the exact same info everyone is, so what’s stopping them?
