They did. The game last week, also by a lopsided score against the same team your pumping the tires of.
It's an 82 games season. The back to back Stanley Cup Champion Pens have lost games like this twice this season.
It's all about context. There's no need to take the one bad game (when we have just played over a half dozen good ones) and act like it's the true problematic picture of where the team is at.

I can't see him throwing any punches in the SNET replay.
Looks like he grabs at Ericsson, but the linesman immediately stops Ferland from doing anything further.

those last 5 minutes ... I haven't missed Jarome Iginla as a Flame more than that, in a long time. He would have beat the living @#$*#@ out of someone in a Red Wings jersey.

#### I love Matty and Ferland. Also really digging how Janko seems like he isn't going to be one to shy away from getting rough when needed.

I think you're both right, actually. Personally, I would suggest we've had more poor performances than good ones so far.
That said, I doubt Mike Smith at his best bails us out tonight.

Please be back on Saturday Smith. Goaltending wasn't the sole reason they lost but Lack needs to be better than that. I really hope that Treliving is atleast keeping tabs on what would be better options at backup.

To sum it up:
He felt that our team should have showed emotion after the first period in order to support the goalie. Not at end like they did.
On the "spear" - G said he watched the tape 20 times and can not find any spear.
Pointed out that the team should be mad after getting their ass kicked.
Felt that the team thought it was going to be easy and did not come out prepared.

On point. Not many people get it these days, bit you do.

@WesGilbertson
#Flames coach Glen Gulutzan on Tkachuk's major: "I’m still searching for the spear. I don’t know, if the first little tap on the ankle is a spear then, oof, I guess I’ve misjudged this game for the last 25 years. I’m searching for it. I can’t find it."
@WesGilbertson
#Flames coach Glen Gulutzan after 8-2 loss in Detroit: “We have some lessons to learn. You should learn from getting your ass kicked and not being prepared. But that’s not acceptable, either.”

It's a blowout game that you're losing, Witowski just took it way too far against Kulak with a dirty slam but Witowski is already off the ice and Tkachuk reaches in for the tap?
Okay fine, now there's some posturing with teams getting in each other's face. Even so, Witowski is still pulled back and turns to leave. Tkachuk goes too far again in shoving him. Why? Are you going to send a message to a player and a team that you'll no longer see for the rest of the regular season? Or a statement to the league that you'll stand up for your team when a no-name guy is already being sent off by initiating a scrum?
Not going to point a finger at any single player or individual moment as it all played a part but did want to share my 2 cents on Tkachuk's part in it.
|
I"m kinda pissed Tkachuk didn't drop his gloves and start pounding on Howard.

Because he was sticking up for a rookie who just got his ass kicked by a goon who picked on a guy below his weight class. Tkachuk should be commended, not blamed.

FWIW (nothing) we did win the corsi battle ~ 59-41...
Detroit went 4/6 on the PP and got a SHG.
We couldn’t get a big save tonight. Forget it and move on.
