When you look at it from the mods POV, I get it. Even if the GIF in itself is really pretty tame, it's just way easier to draw the line this way. (Yeah they let it go pretty long but that's just how things go sometimes.)
(I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but girlie pics used to be very prominent in the PGT:s before there was a conscious decision to clean it up. Which I prefer.)

Really wasn't expecting to see a bunch of whining about absolutely nothing in here today.

It would be fantastic is all gifs had to be spoilered. Useless nonsense, imo. Simple solution as to where to draw the line.

I get it. But where does one draw the line?
Do we really want to tell people that they should feel shame, because even though they aren’t doing anything wrong, some people just aren’t comfortable with what they’re saying or wearing? That’s a slippery slope.
I’d honestly prefer people just use the ignore function. That’s what it’s for, moreso than the NSFW tag.
That said, I’m fully aware this is a battle not worth fighting here, so it’s the last I’ll have to say on the subject. I won’t be posting the gif anymore.

I don't get the complaints about Cassie. First game she commented, I thought she was mildly annoying and dragged on a bit with some of her "expert insight", but after that I think she's mostly been fine, probably average compared to other color commentators. I prefer Hrudey, but she is fine. This game in particular I thought she was actually better and had some pretty good insight on a few plays, stuff that I missed in real-time. So that was nice.
Her voice is a bit grating but you get used to it.

She's not fantastic, but she's not as bad as some people would make it seem with the constant complaining.
In the end, she's there to provide insight through the lens of someone who played hockey at a high level; you don't have to agree with every insight, but it sure feels to me like some of the people complaining are doing so because she's a woman, and women don't know as much about hockey dammit.
|
That's a bit of a leap, no? I sure hope that is not the reason.
IMO she comes across as a little too much of a "company man" (forgive the gender specific expression) and apologizes for the refs/NHL too much. Pretty standard for less experienced commentators.
As others have noted, Hrudy set the bar pretty high, but he wasn't always so polished at first either.

Some people need to have a look at post #27 and get their faces ready...
6/6 points and the boys are rolling!! Combined with an Oilers loss and it doesn't get much sweeter then this!

Is Bennett's lack of finish a confidence issue, or can he simply not think the game that quickly when the puck is on his stick?
Monahan is an elite finisher. He's got a career shooting percentage up around 14% (I think average is around 10-12%), and he almost never misses if he has time to get a clear shot off. I'd say that Ferland is an above average finisher as well; if he has time to get a clear shot, I feel confident that it's going in.
Bennett gets opportunities, but almost always seems to either put the puck right into the goaltender, or miss the net entirely. For anyone that attends practices, is this something that the coaches are working on with him? They should park him 10ft out from the crease, and throw a few hundred pucks at him until he's consistently tucking them 6'' inside each post.

Just watch that play again by Johnny to spring Ferland on the breakaway that led to the penalty shot. Pure wizardry.

It seems I may have missed something here. I go to most games at home including all of this home stand so haven't watched on tv. Is Hrudy no longer our colour guy? What's the scoop?

Although Brodie didn't put up any points, I thought this was his best all round game.
He seemed even more comfortable with Stone. Wouldn't mind putting Hamonic on the 3rd pairing with Kulak when he returns.

Is it me or have there been an increased amount of penalty shots. Also seems like the standard has changed so more are awarded. Wonder is there was a memo recently.

Just not on the weekends. He is in Toronto for the HNIC panel, and travel for certain games will be particularly difficult.

I have thought the same thing since the day Hamonic was acquired. I know pretty much everyone and management had Hamonic pencilled in as Brodie's partner. But deep down, I always felt that Stone should have kept that spot and Hamonic being able to anchor the 3rd pairing and be able to slot in at #4 if need be.
It might look sacrilegious to see Hamonic on the 3 pairing. But that just speaks to the Flames' depth on the backend. I was not surprised one bit to see Stone have the game he did. The Flames lack a slapshot from the blueline. Stone brings that. It was quite refreshing to see a Dman wind up and let loose a slap shot. Hell, he might even be able to do a one-timer! Something no one on the team seems to be able to do.
