.... back to the actual game....

Flames played pretty well after the first period. Mike Smith let in a couple of bad goals, but also made some crazy saves. He's also been the team MVP for the first 14 games, so he gets a pass.

The Backlund line was great and could have scored a few more. Glad to see Johnny and Mony (and Ferland) keep up their hot pace.

I love Stone's shot. He should definitely be on the 1st PP unit.

Johnny-Mony-Ferland
Brodie-Stone

That stick lift shows how JG plays at a different level than most players.

I don't know who that is, but I would have believed that was JG 15 years from now.

Lmao, after reading the comments I was afraid to try and see what it was that you posted. I know which one you posted cause you do it after every game, why did they remove it? Are the mods allowed to just do whatever they like? #dictatorship

Another game where we looked far from perfect and still came out with a win. That's how good teams get all the points.

There's a lot of season to play and no way to be sure how well they put it all together, but I have high hopes for this season.

Absolutely. Frolik had a great game too. Really if all guys on our top 6 play like that, we're going to be damned hard to beat even without bottom six scoring.

That said I felt both 3rd and 4th lines looked like they were "due". Didn't watch the whole game so can't speak of consistency throughout the game, but both lines had really good shifts in the other end.

Btw, based on TOI, Bennett-Jankowski-Lazar is the 4th line. Can't say I'm too crazy about that, but that's what the box score says.

PVR every game i can,

Smith fought the puck all game, but its nice to see a Flames goalie actually fighting to stop pucks while he's fighting the puck.

Didn't play his best, but had huge key saves and i believe with last years tandom that would have been a 10-4 win for NJ....

I'll take an off game Smith any day

You're welcome man! Glad you and your daughter enjoyed.

I don't understand the contempt for Campbell.
She's not fantastic, but she's not as bad as some people would make it seem with the constant complaining.
In the end, she's there to provide insight through the lens of someone who played hockey at a high level; you don't have to agree with every insight, but it sure feels to me like some of the people complaining are doing so because she's a woman, and women don't know as much about hockey dammit.

Campbell is our second best recent colour person. Being spoiled with Hrudy set the bar really high. Look at other local broadcasts like the dumpster fire. I'll take Campbell over them any day. She is very Meh overall which is what you hope for out of a local crew.

She will also get better with the timing. Right now Ball almost has to work her in and she doesn't get out of the way soon enough. But that should improve with time as they work more together.

I agree with with GGG that Cassie does a pretty good job. There is no reason to complain about her. Just look up the road to the North and compare to the Oiler broadcasts.

That is absolutely ridiculous. Did you also enjoy Charlie Simmer? He was horrendous and my opinion of him had nothing to do with his gender or otherwise. I was glad when he and Kerr got replaced and I'll be happy when Hrudey returns.

Sure she and Simmer have a high pedigree for playing hockey but it doesn't automatically mean they have a color commentary skill set.

So as far as I can tell Steve wasn't
-Given an infraction
-Suspended
-or banned
He wasn't even asked to not post the gif. All that was mentioned is that next time he posts it please use the NSFW tag so that people who want to see it can click it. Those that don't or are cruising the thread from work have the option. Is that honestly such a big deal for some of you?

We just won three in a row, two of those against two of the top eastern teams... just enjoy it guys and stop squabbling about the small stuff.

I was mildly annoyed with Campbell to begin with. She has kind of an annoying voice for starters, (although nothing a little voice training couldn't fix, or just relaxing a bit). Wasn't bothered last night. I fail to see why people make such a big deal about it commentators anyway.

We’ve had several recent complaints about that post. By putting it behind nsfw tags you can still post it while not making the site uncomfortable for people who don’t want to see that type of thing or are at work. The poster wasn’t given an infraction he was simply asked to use a piece of forum functionality that is basically there for this type of thing.
