I disagree. If you're going for it then you need to have the best available d man. Andersson will get his shot before the season is over, just like Janko has.
Oh of course Andersson will play. Likely next game too.
I just feel Treliving pushed too many chips in the middle a year too early on a guy like Hamonic. I mean I see the merit behind stacking the top 5 like it is even if it has not shown it's true potential yet, but coming into the trade deadline when you know your team needs more , the Flames have the only option of completely emptying the cupboards bare to go get that piece they feel they need.
I'd have rathered the Flames go out and trade for a guy like Mirco Mueller at a much lesser trade price and have some money left to buy at the deadline.
But it is what it is, we will have to wait and see but I really liked Stone/Brodie lat year and tonight just re-ignited that passsion and Hamonics trade price just irked me. And as early as it is, I didn't really notice a difference with him out of the lineup other than somehow Matt Bartkowski needs to stop playing games in a Flames uniform.

People sure seem unhappy with Versteeg's play but I was rather impressed tonight. Although I agree he shouldn't be on the first PP unit, at 5v5 he was at 50% CF with only 16% offensive zone starts. Also, calling him bad in the shootout? What?
I get that we need to have a scapegoat but can't it be someone who's actually bad?

Exciting game and fabulous win against a Devil's team that looked like it might sneak one away!
If you had to pick Smith's weakest game thus far, this was likely it. But if that's the case, sign me! Still managed to make the big saves when it counted.
As a downer, anyone having troubles with GC?? Pretty much all season the feed has been choppy the entire game, stuttering it's way through the exciting plays. So f'ing frustrating that I've forced to use the ####ty web browser (the worst media player on the internet) because I'm blacked out on my xbox or Kodi box.
Overall great win!!!

I thought Bartkowski was the whipping boy. At least that's what I read in the GDT thread.
How does that simple little move so baffle goalies. He picks the corner but it’s not hard at all. I think he hesitates just slightly, lets the come in just a little closer to his body to change the angle? Is there more? It’s so subtle yet in both shootouts the goalies were lost.
- Ferland continues to hum on the top line
- Monahan/Tkachuk moves continue in shoot out
- Smith has "human" game in the cage
- Flames finally scoring some goals

Problem is, there weren't many guys actually that bad tonight. Well, maybe Bartkowski, but even he's had much worse games.
Can't think of any other guys who were really actually bad for this one.

Reminds me of Cammalleri's old technique (start it at 2:50)

Kincaid has a weak high glove and blocker, guys were aiming that way all night. I actually swore at Versteeg for trying to go low, since Monahan beat him so easily going high. Thankfully Tkachuk followed his lead
Sure feels like it's getting close to being over. Flames better win that trade if/when it happens.
Yeah it’s certainly not looking good for Bennett. Him and Lazar the only players -2.
Who knows where Jagr slots in now that Ferland seems to be clicking a bit more on the top line, but if he plays with Bennett upon return, that could be Bennett’s last chance to make this work. Pointless to this point in the season is beyond terrible.

Bet he could do that move all season. The goalie moves with the player but he shoots it back and up against grain. I imagine it's hard to catch that puck if your body's moving the wrong way. If the goalie doesn't move he probably has a plan B
