As for the design, it looks pretty cool to me. More concourse levels should mean shorter bathroom lines and beer lines, and a smaller overall footprint is also better and should be cheaper. Hopefully this is along the lines of what the city and Flames end up with.

Would this increase the amount of seating as well?

At first glance I don't get that impression. I'm imagining it as kind of splitting the 200's down the center horizontally and pushing everything "forwards" on that plane. So the PLs and Co-op Zone Section would be enjoying a view that's more typical of the upper-level greens rather than the crap view they endure currently, and vice versa.

The video was there not the story with mention of the Flames. I've been avoiding this thread for the political discussion so I hadn't seen the video either.

I think it is also noteworthy that footage of the Flames is featured in the video when describing the hockey layout of the building.

She was also the Councillor who voted against sharing the Flames and City proposals with the public

It's amazing that she actually gets elected by the public.

I think the new building is going to have a lower capacity than the Dome does now - 18,500 or thereabouts.
If there's one thing this isn't about, it's getting more people to come to Flames games.

Colley-Urquhart received donations from a couple owners during the 2013 election cycle, too.

What it is about is making sure that those who do come to games will get to pay a lot more for the privilege.

It's also as if the Flames, being a business, are trying to maximize revenue.
I don't think the city should be paying for the Flames new arena but let's not pretend the Flames are anything other than a corporate trying to make as much money as they possibly can.

But at the same time it is important to remember that the Flames don't need a new arena, the city does.

I think one of the issues with Rogers bathroom fiasco is the fact that many of the bathrooms are located in areas general seating aren't allowed in (Loge seating etc.). By all accounts, the prime areas have bathroom capacity - the others are more of the same.
Hopefully, this is considered in a new rink.
For all talk about older/newer arena design, it's easy to see in any sport the stadiums of old are a lot more communal/egalitarian; but i guess you don't maximize revenue that way.

Thought this was relevant given all the talk of the Flames moving and the viability of the Calgary market in relation to other NHL cities.

Man, didn't Barroway just consolidate his ownership buying out the minority (Calgary) ownership group?

"No."
