Agree re Smith. Playoff performance notwithstanding, this guy is a downgrade from Elliott.

All I'm gonna say is this is the most pressure this teams been under since the rebuild began and you think they would've liked some momentum going into the season, gave up a first in a strong draft and if this is how the first few weeks are gonna go it's gonna be a mess. Team was putrid tonight

Some overreacting going on in here.
Disappointing to see such a horrible effort with lineup like that.
Smith is concerning for sure but we all knew that was a likely possibility

STL had 5 shots on goal throughout their entire game against the Wild tonight.
I repeat. 5 shots on goal throughout the entire. friken. game.

You can't please everyone: last year the lines were juggled too much; now not enough.
Bennett was not very good tonight, and it had very little to do with how Brouwer was playing.

True. And it is only Preseason. But this team won't score enough goals to offset below league average goaltending. And based on what I've seen from the 35 year old Smith, that is exactly what we are going to get. The flames have the worst goaltending on any playoff contending team in the west. And that is very worrisome.

Which is frightening because we have a questionable no.1 and questionable no.2 and 3 rookie goaltenders. Seems very sketchy

I reiterate that this loss means very little, however I would like to see Monahan-Tkachuk and Bennett-Gaudreau line combos at some point. Put Brouwer with Backlund. Backs is the rejuvenator.
