I’m optimistic. We lost 3-1 while putting in literally zero effort. We’ll easily win games we put effort into.

What's happening though is that we seem to be purposefully slowing it down in the neutral zone. I can understand why, control is good and attacking as a 5 man unit is important - but you shouldn't pass up the chance to attack with speed Every. Single. Time. in an effort to attack as a 5 man unit.
...on-top of that, we take entirely too many stationary shots in the offensive zone. It's brutal.

The Brodie slap shot this game was very pathetic

So the consensus is that I should just sell my tickets for this year, cause we are doomed and there's no point in going now?

Objectively speaking... That game showed:
Glass may be a good 12/13th forward
Brouwer not necessarily a good fit for 3rd line
F. Hamilton is not worthy of a roster spot
Bartkowski looked fine, no issues if he starts at the 6 spot if the other 5 play the way they did tonight
Stajan is always good for a rag doll or 2

Yes because that is exactly what I meant by "vets". No the likes of Brouwer, Stajan, Glass or Bartowski.

Brouwer looks like a PTO player. Bennett has to get away from that guy. It's preseason, I would have liked to see more line combos.

I thought Hamonic was very good tonight. Brodie not quite as good, but you can sure see the potential there.
Overall, a terrible game, but I think the difference was almost entirely in effort and execution. Canucks looked motivated; the Flames absolutely did not.

*Brouwer not good for any line
Guy was brought in to be a physical presence but is afraid of hitting it seems.

If you're not nervous about this team heading into the start of the season you are wearing rose coloured glasses. They played almost a full period on the power play tonight and got beat by an ahl team.

I thought the pre-season would be a good time to test out different lines and see what would work with Jankowski higher up the lineup. Thought the flames mismanaged this pre-season and the only thing positive was Jankowski but oh well it's pre-season until we get blown out next week
