Jaromir Jagr on signing a tryout: 'I'm not gonna go for it. It's funny we talk about it. After 25 years they kow what kind of player I am'

This thread went from geek status to king status to no statues. I was excited about this rumor and now I'm sort disappointed it died out. This thread lost a lot of steam. I don't think this signing will happen.
If the Flames are so bad that they need to bring in that old fart it's going to be a long year
Jagr still provides excellent value at his age. He would be a great addition to any team. Not a 1st line star, but he's an average 2nd line winger at worst.
Strongly disagree... the Flames could most definitely use Jagr's creativity and size up front. Last night was evident they just get bumped off the puck so easily, same with the Ducks in playoffs last year. Or the opposition will use their size to create space and protect the puck with body positioning... a guy like Jagr will help the offense create a good cycle down low and he can move the puck really well as he's an excellent passer / playmaker. He could be used on the powerplay (much better option than say, Versteeg or Brouwer which had looks on PP last night) and I think his experience would still be useful as Gaudreau and Monahan are still young.
Lots of good reasons to consider the guy, the risk being his speed and willingness to play a full game / commitment to both sides of the ice I'd think.
I'd do it though if it can be done cheap enough. He'll help Calgary in an area they're weak.
it's absolutely true, you should watch closely. Calgary struggles to control the puck. Watch how frequently and for how long they're able to control possession. It seems to go overlooked here because people like to pretend size is irrelevant now for some reason (mostly groupthink).

Not sure what's worse, trying to pass off this exaggerated, hyperbolic opinion based off the first split squad game of the PRE-season or trying to suggest the majority of fans are fooled and that you see through it.
It's a bogus take. We did just fine against other big teams like LA last year.
Anaheim has had our number for a while, but all of those game were competitive and with a few more bounces it could have been different story. With the way our core is much younger than theirs we have a lot of room to grow and improve.
Don't agree with your premise at all, but object more so with you trying to use the first six periods of the entire year in the pre-season to put if forth.
