Ha? Did you watch the video you posted? That's not why he was offended.

And for the "when did you stop beating your wife" question....no married men should take offense unless they don't know the true meaning of that question.

Not all all listeners caught on that it was a rhetorical question though. I was listening live to that interview and Rome got bombarded after with fans questioning if he had beaten his wife. He had to announce that no he did not and the entire thing looked bad on Stern. Listening to that again I will say if anything the Steven A Smith comment was the real low blow.

Besides isn't jokes and quips the entire basis of Onrait and O'Toole?

I hate to break it to you folks but thousands of north American radio sports broadcasters have come and gone and crashed and burned so becoming the largest syndicated sports radio show is no accident. I understand in Calgary where the average fan has a very narrow bandwidth of sports they are interested in that he may not be popular with a lot of people but as a guy that has 960 on all day in his cubicle he's pretty well my only source of current events in other sports like the NBA which I only follow very casually. I get pretty tired of Boomer's comments when Pinder brings up a current story in say tennis to which you get; "Tennis? Who cares, lets talk about when Freddie Hamilton will get back into the Flames lineup." Boomer has absolutely nothing to offer outside of hockey talk. Nothing. Mike Richards at least was into baseball, football, boxing, etc and the morning show was much more well rounded. The morning show is better after 9:00 when he leaves the show IMO.

Things are only going to get worse once the NHL playoffs are over and we have a full hour at noon of that baseball show where I'm convinced if you were to listen every minute from beginning to end may induce a coma.
I don't think you're giving people enough credit. I listened to Rome for years before I finally stopped. I'm well aware of what he brings to the table, and it's just not my cup of tea. Has nothing to do with whether I like football, basketball, baseball, etc.

Well it's not Stern's fault is his listeners don't understand a very common debate statement.

Heard a rumour that Mike Richards might be back at the Fan 960 soon. FWIW.

No thanks. Never liked him, and I prefer the current lineup at the station.

Give Richards the time slot currently occupied by Rome and I am on board.

I'm comfortable with the current morning show, but don't care for Rome, so that would be a natural. I don't think they should tinker with the current morning show guys, they seem to have found a groove so don't try to push Richards in there.

I think we have a big enough market to go all local content during the day with the night time running "Best of". And I hate the Rome "A-town, B-town, C-town" schtick...

So I would be aboard with Richards replacing the Jim Rome show.

This, I hate Rome...its a 2 hour block of me wishing he would just retire already.

Obviously a matter of opinions, but I'm not a big fan of the current lineup.

For me the morning show is OK at best. These guys think they are so funny but they really take it too far with the inside jokes which takes away from the program. It's a bit better when Rhett's there, but not by a whole lot.

I like Pinder, even if I don't agree with his hockey opinions, the guy puts on a professional show for the hour that he's got for himself.

The afternoon show when it's just Steinberg and Nault (sp?) is terrible, they are even worse for finding things funny than the morning guys. Supreme nerds.

Once Kerr gets there after 2, I enjoy his and Steinberg's discussions for the most part.

Adding Richards would certainly not take away from this radio station, so I would welcome it.

At least the afternoon show talks sports.
All the morning talks about is insults, themselves or food

I thought he was just going to be on Monday with Rob and Pat for an interview?

I didn't mind Richards, though I thought some stuff (Michele Wie) was overboard. But I'm not sure his schtick is suited for a mid morning or afternoon slot. And the money he'd want wouldn't suit those slots either.

last week I was ready to pull my hair out listening to the afternoon boys as they would talk about the lazar resigning and what it meant tot eh flames, then talk about some other stuff then go for a commercial break and then back to the same cycle - little if any new thoughts or comments or insights.

it was like over an hour of wash, rinse, repeat.......

I'd like to think mike was responsible for bringing us steve armitage in Edmonton and phone calls from bob cole, michelle wie and Vijay singh. - and that friends is a very good thing

Different strokes, really. I enjoy the morning show a great deal but just can't stomach Kerr talking over everyone, yelling etc.

Irritates me so much when Steinberg is trying to explain something and Kerr talks over him saying "Yes. Yes. Yes!!! Yes... Yes!". Does it all the time.

The only guy I actually like to listen to is Rhett. Everyone else is just 'meh' for me, or downright bad. I am all for change.

It's funny how a former NHLer is a better morning show person than guys who were trained to be professional talk show hosts.

I do enjoy the morning show, and for sure if you don't listen all the time, it would be a tough show to follow. There are an awful lot of call-backs to previous jokes or mistakes. If you miss one notable day where something happened, you're lost until you figure out what the joke was to begin with. But I still find it pretty funny.

The afternoon show, I can't stand. With Pat and Will non-stop agreeing with each other and repeating why they agree with each other over and over, it gets rather tiresome.

Rob is much better when he's not around Pat, like when he calls into the morning show. Pat is a black hole that sucks the life out of that show.

I would like to see (hear) more Peter Klein. I really enjoy it when he's on, morning or afternoon. Even if he is talking wrestling/mma.
