He was a point per game defencemen in the WHL. He's pretty exceptional at some things.

The Flames haven't drafted a defenseman in the first round since 2009. I really like both Andersson and Kjillington, but in three years Brodie will be a UFA and Giordano will be 36-years old. The hole in the prospect pool at defence is bigger than the hole at forward, especially since four the the Flames best forwards are all under 24-years-old.

That never happened, I don't know what you're referring to.

Stop making things up.

Would have liked a bigger gamble going with the Russian Kostin, but in The Process we Trust.

Good size, well-rounded game. Sounds like a solid potential NHLer. Safe pick. When you don't have second or third round picks, it's a smart move.

LLove the pick. I just hope he can become consistent.

Disagree with the people who wanted the Flames to pick a forward. Always go BPA

Completely disagree. The biggest hole in the system, and has been for years, is a natural RW. The Flames have a number of defensemen in the system who are top end prospects, and defensemen need more time to develop, but little at RW. I think they could have gone off their script and gone for a RW here. We'll see how it turns out, but this pick is a little disappointing.

Yeah wtf?

Where's Bettman's dumb face leaning into the mic to announce a trade? Not sure I've ever seen a draft without an announcement from him.

Not super surprised by Vaakanainen pick. He's been pretty highly rated for a long, long time. The defensemen from Finland just seem a bit better this year.

You're right, you don't. This has been a need for the Flames for almost a decade. Stop burying your head in the sand and recognize the biggest weakness not only on the NHL team, but in the whole system. I don't hate the pick, but man, it annoys me when the Flames continue to ignore the most pressing need for "BPA." BPA has almost become a cliche excuse IMO.
