Lol remember this time last year when BT was having "a little chat" with Kekalainen and Chiarelli

Weaker draft year. Lots of player movement due to expansion. Most of the top end young players are maturing into their primes.
The deal has to make sense but if you can move the 1st for a player in that age 22-25 group that helps you right now you have to look at it.
Make a trade like the Dougie Hamilton trade again 10 time out of 10.

Hamonic will be 27 in August.

Harmonic is not worth the cost. Plain and simple.

Flames have also picked 3 1st rounders in 2013 (and have since acquired 2 more from the first of that draft)
They picked in the first round once and second round twice in 204
They picked in the 2nd round twice in 2015 and added a 22 year old (at the time) Dman
They picked in the first round and the second round twice in 2016
11 picks in the top 60 in the last 3 drafts and acquiring 2 other former first rounders.
The Flames have stockpiled picks over the past few years and are on the cusp of contention. If they can add a Hamonic now for the 16th pick and a prospect they should do it

He's probably suggesting the Islanders ask for 3 firsts.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
GS and Lou Lamoriello having a draft floor chat. Heard the Leafs are making a big push on Hamonic.

with 2 firsts we'd be in on the Duchene discussions.
I'm more interested in him or Landeskog than I am Harmonic.

What if the trade happens in these circumstances:
Flames are up at 16, don't have their guy there, trade down into the 20s and add a pick in the 2nd round, then flip that pick in the 20s to Islanders with extras?
Still picking a player in first 2 rounds, albeit much lower, and still giving a first round pick (+ whatever extras, likely a prospect at D)

I honestly have no clue why a lot of folks have this hard on for harmonic, I don't think he's all that great. Especially at the cost of the #16 pick. I sense whipping boy before the all star break.

Big body, right shot, decent foot speed, great character, even better contract, and the right age group.
Flames would have arguably the best top 4 in the game and an average cap hit of $5.2M locked up for 3 years

Harmonic's cap hit is $3.85/year for the next three years. I think that's what makes him attractive.

There is no 'R' in his name. It's Hamonic, not Harmonic

Much, much bigger need for dmen than forwards. We're pretty stacked at forward and have huge holes right now on the defense
