Thank God someone posted Devin Townsend/SYL. The suggestions from CPers in this thread are all almost universally better than this craptacular list from Sirius. I'd even put Log Drivers Waltz ahead of most of these.
Opinions are going to vary widely from region to region so what's maybe the most popular in Ontario may not necessarily match what's most popular out west.

Honourable mentions... The often overlooked Rheostatics and The Gandharvas

Worst is easy, pick any Drake song.
Best is a bit harder, probably something by Arcade Fire. Rise Up by Parachute Club would be my choice if the singing was better.

Nothing will ever be worse the Kim Mitchell's Patio Lanterns, even the most crooney Drake song.

The worst goes to Sarah McLachlan for that song in the commercial with all the sad puppies.

I like Serena Ryder too. She seems very Canadian to me. And she looks just like my sister. One person, one instrument? I'd take Serena.

For worst, I am going to say anything by Moist. Push was probably the worst of the worst though. The facial expressions he makes throughout the video are so hideous, but I guess it is what makes the whole package so bad.

NSFW!

And such a cringe worthy name for a band.

The singer looks like such a creep and I hate his nasally voice. Plus, their sound was so contrived.

For me I really didn't hate Moist that much other than their drummer literally knew only one beat.

boof...PAH. boofPAH. boof...PAH. boofPAH.

Repeat ad nauseum.

I kind of liked Moist as well - better than Rhymes with Orange, Tea Party, Sloan and others during that period.

Since no one else has mentioned them I'm assuming that I'll laughed at but I loved Honeymoon Suite.

Since barfing at the Honeymoon Suite show at the Deerfoot Inn in a few months ago I've grown to love them. It's cool they just play for fun at these lame banquet rooms and keep their fans totally happy. They're all good. They make it look pretty easy. For the longest time if there was a song on the radio that I knew but didn't know the band, it was inevitably Honeymoon Suite.

For a while there in the 80s, Cancon was mostly a handful of bands played over and over: Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Frozen Ghost, Platinum Blonde, Chalk Circle.

This blog is funny:

http://www.craptastic.com/cancon/dreck.html

In no particular order. Here are some "artistes" that benifited from having a Canadian passport and little else. I'm tempted to give everyone on this page off the scale ratings but I've tried to assess their lack of talent honestly so some rankings might seem a little generous. I've snuck in a few marginal characters just because it's my list and I can do what ever I want with it.

That is quite interesting. I can't believe how many crappy Canadian artists I had completely forgotten about. Lava Hay, Dalbello?!? How did they even happen?

A couple more bands that I believe have not yet been mentioned:

Also, do the Divine Fits count as Canadian? Half the band is from Canada.
