I the next 3 weeks we will have a goalie tandem just as capable of being as "average" as last years goalies were (the ones that combined for 45 wins despite being average, or slightly below average), maybe even better than average. We will also probably have Stone re-signed, and if it isn't Stone, it will be because Tre got someone even better than Stone somehow.

We don't NEED to get out of any contracts, we can afford all the things we need without ditching any contracts.

The core is young, and should improve for the most part, especially without a slow start for Mony/Johnny, a good #4 Dman from the get go and not having to learn an entirely different system from scratch.

No need to be panicky.

Must be tough being an Avalanche fan. Eberle seems like a complete 180 to the type of player they need to bring in. I fail to see how a soft, one-dimensional player is going to help a team that let in almost 300 goals last season. They were also last in GF but that was probably due to lack of puck possession or structure to which Eberle really isn't going to help. What a mess.

LOL, no not at all, with all the insiders saying this is going to be busiest couple of weeks in the history of the NHL and all that kind of stuff, I got my hopes up and now, nothing is happening.

Guess we are going to be hearing Doughty to the Leafs rumors/speculation/paranoias/fan ficitions/erotica for the next couple of years. His contract with the kings is up in 2019.

Doughty has commented that the downside to winning the Cup on L.A. was the end of the anonymity that the players enjoyed. He said being noticed out on the town in L.A. "sucked". Being a star Leaf in Toronto would multiply that exposure tenfold. Especially for a party-boy like Doughty.

Maybe he'll feel differently if he settles down. But whatever his childhood feelings about the Leafs, it's hard to imagine Doughty enjoying playing in the fishbowl of Toronto.

Lazar absolutely. Shinkaruk will be given an opportunity in training camp (providing he's still on the roster) to make the team to which if he doesn't the Flames will possibly lose him through waivers.

I'd argue we didn't have one after late Jan either... we just had a more competent pretender.

One of my favourite things about the Flames organization, and I feel like it's been happening as long as I can remember, is that they seem to be very tight lipped about everything. Rarely are they involved in rumours about players until a deal is complete. It's always a nice surprise.

Did you seriously just use rumours as a measuring stick to anoint the Oilers as the best team in the west and panic / pout that the Flames aren't doing anything?

The Flames have been notoriously tight lipped over Treliving's tenure. No smoke and them bam, Hamilton obtained.
