Maybe next year but for the remaining 4 years of his deal with ever declining foot speed. If there was 2 years left not bad but 4 I would want heavy retention.

I am concerned they get Hamonic for Eberle. That would give them 3 legit top 4 defenders in the 24-27 age group signed for at least the next 3 years at roughly $4M per in Larson, Klefbom, and Hamonic. All 3 are big boys as well
Please no Everle for Hamonic. PLEASE

If what Dreger says is true and the Avs are a frontrunner, then have to think the Hamonic for Eberle is BS as the Avs aren't in a position to give up a d-man.

The lack of activity, particularly with the roster freeze on Saturday, is really surprising me.

i think this is cause most deals right now are with Vegas or GMs are comparing cost of moving player and loosing someone else to just assets to not loose said player. If deals come will be just before the freeze imo

I think they are really trying to keep any deals secret, so as not to affect other teams' exposure lists, etc.

The problem with an Eberle for Hamonic trade is the Isles have De Haan who had a good year and is an RFA. He could get $3.5 mil is my guess. NYI has 2 mil cap space. If Eberle for Hamonic happens the Oil would have to take Kulemin, Grabovski, Halak or Chimera back.
Also NYI has Boychuk, Leddy and De Haan. If they trade Hamonic it makes more sense doing it before the expansion draft. If so the Oil have Sekera, Klefbom and Larrson. They too can't protect 4 dmen (unless they protect 8 players)
Avs deal for Duchene makes more sense. Avs have 0 issues protecting Hamonic and IMO Duchene is better than Eberle so NYI should be all over him

This is why there may be more deals after the expansion draft than before.

Drouin is "in play" but obviously has to be right offer. TB also listening on likes of Johnson, Garrison, Killorn.

oh great. doughty told Leafs Lunch that every southern Ontario boy secretly wants to play for the Leafs.
Guess we are going to be hearing Doughty to the Leafs rumors/speculation/paranoias/fan ficitions/erotica for the next couple of years. His contract with the kings is up in 2019.

How can we remain calm? We have no starting and clear cut #1 goalie, we have no top RW for the top line, we don't have a top 4 D man, we need someone to play with Sam Bennett and we have some contracts that we need to get out of and time is running.

If the leafs are cup contenders by 2019, I can see Doughty being a Leaf.

The Oilers probable could protect 4 defense and 4 forwards if they traded Eberle for Hamonic unfortunately but agree with the cap space argument
Oilers would protect the following:
Lucic - F
Maroon - F
Nuge - F
Draisaitl - F
Sekera - D
Klefbom - D
Larsson - D
Hamonic - D
Exposes Letestu but he is 32 and only has 1 year left on his contract anyway so pretty sure the Oilers would much prefer that top 4 D than keeping Letestu

There isn't a team in the league that has three top line forwards, three 2nd line forwards, four top 4 defencemen, etc. That's not how the NHL works, especially with an expansion draft. There's not much the Flames can do until then.

Teams may not have all what you are saying but the Flames can get some of that, there are rumors of Oilers doing stuff and no rumors about the Flames, that is worrisome.

Relax. Treliving and his team are always tight lipped, why are you worried in the middle of June?

No rumours is probably a good thing. BT is running a tight ship. Based on past performance, I have no doubt he is actively involved in multiple potential deals.

With expansion draft, there should be a lot available and there is a trade freeze happening on 17th(this Saturday) and there is nothing happening from the Flames.
