Thinking it through lately... It wouldn't surprise me if lazar has already been dealt to vegas if the right scenario plays out. Flames jumping on trading for him at a weird time and then not playing him (I know the team was hot). Would have made more sense to wait for the offseason to make that move, it was an odd deadline deal. Unlikely but not a shocker if it goes down with vegas for me.
Lazar to vegas in return for vegas taking brouwer... Or 2nd choice of goalies available, something like that.

LeBrun also reporting that Neal may be left unprotected by Nashville. Not 100% confirmed yet, but a possibility

looks like Phaneuf said No.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Dion Phaneuf is not expected to waive his NMC, as was requested by OTT. That means Phaneuf would have to be protected in expansion draft.
If ottawa sticks to a 7-3-1 protection scheme, that means they likely leave Methot unprotected. Or maybe Ceci
If they go to a 8-1 scheme to protect both Ceci and Methot, they can only protect 4 of the following:
Ryan, Hoffman, Brassard, Stone, Turris, Burrows, Pageau, Dzingel, etc
edit or this:
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The other option for OTT would be to trade Phaneuf before submitting protected/exposed lists for expansion draft.

Who's dumb move? Toronto for giving him a NTC or Ottawa for trading for it?

Yeap. Really pisses me off that they allowed the option of having a player agree to waive their NMC.
Should have forced teams to honor the clause or buy out the player.

Wow. I am guessing Bieksa gets bought out now if Friedman report is true.
Mike Halford @HalfordPHT
Ducks, agent mum on Bieksa waiving no-movement clause
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC

Going to be a hard sell to trade him with $28 million in cap hit over the next four years.
Ottawa's going to lose a decent player no way around it. In the 8-1 scenario I would probably protect Hoffman, Stone, Turris, and Pageau. Really though I don't see why they wouldn't go 7-3-1 and leave Methot available.

Just Bieksa waiving didn't guarantee them avoiding losing a decent player (probably Vatanen), so it was a bit pointless to ask, unless they made a deal with Vegas to take Bieksa. If you're Vegas, the ask would be pretty steep, because you are giving up Vatanen, or maybe Rakell or Silfverberg.

Ducks saved
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
It's believed ANA has a pre-arranged deal in place with VGK so it isn't necessary to ask Kevin Bieksa to waive his NMC.

Ryan's POs may give Ottawa pause about exposing him.

Maybe it's just me but I feel the fact that LV can make or agree to trades prior to the expansion draft is kind of silly. Kind of makes the draft a bit of a farce.

Doubtful. I imagine most GM's these days are pretty weary of overvaluing a single playoff performance as any indication of future play. They will likely be praying Ryan gets picked up especially seeing they are probably stuck with Phaneuf's contract.

If Bieksa is not waiving what do the Ducks do?
Lindholm, Fowler, Manson, Vatanen
Figured they would trade Vatanen but would they move 2 of those Dmen?

I just know a lot of Ottawa media are on the "keep Ryan" bandwagon. Of course, they may have a pretty good notion that Vegas won't take him anyway. It's a pretty hefty contract.
