IMO

Kushner is more interested in the attainment of power and money... so he isn't necessarily looking to destroy the system per se... In Taibbi's legendary RS article, The Great American Bubble Machine, he called Goldman Sachs, "a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money"... this is how i see guys like Trump and Kushner...

Bannon, doesn't give a damn about the benefits of the trump kleptocracy... i think his agenda is bigger than gaining more material wealth... he's more of an ideologue than Trump, who was actually fairly liberal on social issues once upon a time...

Not sure what his end game is... but i think SNL has it more right than wrong when they portray him as the grim reaper...

Washington (CNN) - Russian officials bragged in conversations during the presidential campaign that they had cultivated a strong relationship with former Trump adviser retired Gen. Michael Flynn and believed they could use him to influence Donald Trump and his team, sources told CNN.

The conversations deeply concerned US intelligence officials, some of whom acted on their own to limit how much sensitive information they shared with Flynn, who was tapped to become Trump's national security adviser, current and former governments officials said.

"This was a five-alarm fire from early on," one former Obama administration official said, "the way the Russians were talking about him." Another former administration official said Flynn was viewed as a potential national security problem.

The conversations picked up by US intelligence officials indicated the Russians regarded Flynn as an ally, sources said. That relationship developed throughout 2016, months before Flynn was caught on an intercepted call in December speaking with Russia's ambassador in Washington, Sergey Kislyak. That call, and Flynn's changing story about it, ultimately led to his firing as Trump's first national security adviser.

Officials cautioned, however, that the Russians might have exaggerated their sway with Trump's team during those conversations.

Flynn's lawyer declined to comment.

I wonder how much more productive time I would have if Clinton won the election. I can't tear myself away from this train wreck.

I'm the same. I was only mildly interested in politics before all this happened, but now I can't look away. It's the craziest and most entertaining show on TV right now--equally hilarious and horrifying at the same time. Like someone mentioned earlier, this stuff is gonna make for some amazing documentaries and movies down the road, or possibly an HBO series.

A couple of weeks ago I tuned into CNN for the first time in a while and all it was, was a bunch of people yelling at each other via satellite. It was pathetic and not news at all. Just news entertainment.

Serious question, but is there a pure network news station in the US any more? Or is it all just news entertainment?

Not being an American, and living thousands of miles away this is amazingly entertaining. As long as Trump doesn't do something so insane the Chinese start shooting at me I can't help but enjoy this.

You can live-stream most international news stations like CNN International or BBC World News on Youtube. Also, some of the business news stations are less people shouting at each other, but you have to deal with 47 tickers scrolling across the screen.

I'm not sure if you can still get Al Jazeera, do they still have an American station? They'd probably be good.

Here is a good roast of Fox News by Vox. Only fair since they roasted CNN:

I'm surprised the Turkish embassy beatings aren't getting more play in the US.

How humiliating for America. One day you have the Russians yukking it up in the Oval office after their patsy president fires the FBI director, dictating the terms of that meeting then releasing photos to prove what they've done, the next you have another dictator's goons beating people up on US soil with no apparent consequences and minimal outcry. It's just insanely embarrassing.

CNN is pretty weird I agree, however I would say that Fareed Zakaria's show every Sunday is pretty good and uses facts and acts like actual news. It's by far the best thing CNN has going for it.
