For instance the player you are suggesting trading Bennett for (Nino) was in the AHL at the same age Sam is today and had 64 games of NHL experience and 3pts to his name. The Islanders traded him for Clutterbuck who was 26 at the time. Hindsight shows that was a brutal trade and the Islanders should have been more patient especially with the organization searching for a winger for Tavares.
I am firmly in the keep Bennett camp as he will only be 21 when next season starts. I love the style he plays so if he pans out to be a first or second line centre the Flames are laughing long term

Curious, then, that his powerplay time significantly increased following that. But I guess that isn't factual because Versteeg is a "stopgap", and those can't be actual good, skilled players.

Does it though? Acquiring a 24 year old and signing them through their prime on a long term deal has nothing to do with long term vision. It just doesn't fit what you want.

Who did I suggest trading Bennett for? I simply said I think they would ask for Bennett and later compared What Nino is to the type of player we hope Bennett will become. Perhaps bone up on your reading skills. But honestly, trading Bennett for a player a whole 3 years older that could be signed for 7 years though there prime, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Classic response where you take a personal jab. Why do you do that all the time? Are you insecure or just generally a prick?
I am just preaching patience with Bennett and think having him at 21 on a bridge deal beats trading him for a 25 year old who we have to sign for $5+M long term. Bennett was also a high pick like Nino and actually had a more impressive career at the same age. So I am saying we should be patient with him as there is a good chance we regret the trade.

I am hoping they sign Bennett to a josi or klefbom type contract, 8 years 33 million.

Why did I question your reading skills when I never said what you claimed I did? I wonder.....

Agreed - I'm hoping for something similar. Somewhere in that 7 years, 30M range.

Fair enough that you did not say let's trade Bennett for Nino as that was my mistake. There are a lot of posts in the thread and it was mentioned not by you so sorry for claiming you said that. You were just defending the notion of trading Bennett for a guy like Nino, Landeskog, Duchene etc who are more established wouldn't be a bad thing.
At the end of the day it doesn't change the fact I still completely disagree with your opinion on the subject.

Reading your responses over the last few pages, you come across as a bit of a difficult person to deal with.
"You misinterpreted my post" tends to read with a very different tone than "perhaps bone up on your reading skills".

Happy that I doubt Calgary is on his radar.

I'd like the Flames to explore his fellow UFA from the Capitals, Justin Williams.
All he does is win, and would be invaluable in the dressing room.
I think the Flames could grab him for a couple years, at $3m per, and put him first line RW.

The Bennet boner is amazing.
No doubt he'll be a good player - but if there is a trade that makes the team better so be it.

If you're this sensitive to criticism, then it's probably not a good idea to make trade proposals. Particularly those involving someone projected to be on our protection list.

No doubt there is a trade that makes the team better next year if we trade Bennett. A team like the Rangers likely gladly give up a Stepan, Nash etc for him. What is ridiculous is the impatience some people have because Bennett is not a 50-70pt player.
Bennett has had a typical start to his career for a high pick. A very respectable 18 goals and 36pts as a rookie winger followed by a sophomore slump as a centre.
Next season Bennett will be the same age Gaudreau was when he was a rookie. There is so much potential to have a Bennett trade blow up in the Flames face.

I don't mean to pile on, and I'm just quoting as an example, but comments like this are just inflammatory and unnecessary. It's a CP wide problem that needs work.
I enjoy reading people's opinions and ideas on this site, not bickering between posters.

Except I didn't make a proposal. I said they'd probably ask for him and later when talking about Nino's value I compared Nino to the type of player we hope Bennett will be in 4 years. So being criticized for something I didn't say, by someone who regularly says things that I feel are pretty out to lunch get's a reaction.

No offense but I really don't care what you think I should work on, if the mods want to say something to me about my tone they can. Until then, if I am accused of saying something I didn't, I weill question their ability to understand what they are reading.
