Really excited for Splatoon with local multiplayer as well.
You'd think by releasing the 2DS XL, they're committing to keeping handheld franchises on the 3DS series instead of consolidating to the Switch. I mean, unless they're comfortable on cannibalizing their own hardware sales to give Switch owners the best of both worlds...then sure, go for it.

Yeah but I think in a way, while there is obviously a Venn-overlap, the Switch targets a different demographic than the xDS series.

Lord knows I haven't owned a (non-PC or Android) handheld in at least 10 years until I bought a Switch.

Last month I read a rumour that Nintendo was going to release a "mini Switch" in a couple of years. Perhaps something smaller with non-detachable controllers that would replace the xDS series?

That could potentially bring the Switch and xDS software under one roof, at a price point and size that is a little more palatable for kids and more casual people.

Or it could all be internet rumour BS...

It was just some analysts guess. So not internet rumour, but not any better than some guy's blog post. It obviously makes sense, but it will be a few years becuase the Switch is still a beastly machine and will need technology/cost to improve to make it smaller, use less battery and be cheaper.

I look forward to the Switch XL (or LL in Japan) with a 1080p screen. Or a 4K screen. Maybe a 3D screen.

Regardless, a glass screen though please for the love of god.

Those look ridiculously good...wow. I would probably snatch that up in a heartbeat if Nintendo sold it.

Minecraft is out on Switch today. Nothing super exciting, but it has the Super Mario texture packs and is really the first fully featured version of the game that's totally mobile.

Question about online play when it becomes a paid service this fall:

My wife and I have separate users on our Switch so we can have different save games on Zelda, and and so we don't contaminate each others online scores on Mario Kart. A separate Nintendo account was required for my wife to go online with her own user.

When the service becomes paid in the fall, will the subscription somehow be tied to our console, or our individual user profiles? In other words, will we be able to have separate online Mario Kart profiles without having to pay for two online subscriptions?

It'll probably be tied to the profiles, not the console. So you'll likely need to pay twice.

Anyone know of any stores or online locations that have any in stock? I tried most of the stores in the south end of the city over the weekend with no luck. I would prefer the red/blue.

Nintendo's doing it again. Releasing all these colours that I must have.
Not liking the pink too much, but I'd love to get a green and yellow to go with my blue and red.
