From what I've read, it definitely has an uphill battle in the Senate, but there's still a possibility it could pass. I don't think it's completely DOA.

The bill faces a steeper climb in the Senate, where widespread disagreement remains among Republicans about how to proceed on health care. First, the Senate’s parliamentarian — or rules-keeper — cannot review the legislation and determine the rules of debate until the CBO submits its official estimate, which could take several more weeks to complete, according to congressional aides. That would mean that official Senate debate on the bill could not begin until June.

Even then, the issue of health care reform is expected to be treated much more skeptically by Republican senators.

	Quote:

Among many other concerns, GOP senators from states that have expanded Medicaid under the ACA have voiced concerns about rollbacks to that program included in the House bill. A trio of conservative senators — Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — who often buck GOP leaders are another wild card. With just a 52-48 advantage over Democrats, Senate Republicans have a smaller margin for error than their House counterparts.

The House measure may run into other procedural roadblocks in the Senate. The original proposal initially left many of the ACA’s insurance regulations alone — with the goal of ensuring it would pass muster with the Senate parliamentarian — but not all of them. The House’s version of the bill would undercut the ACA’s insurance regulations even more. That might make it difficult for Republican senators to pass the measure under a procedural maneuver known as “reconciliation,” which is usually reserved for budget legislation.

Nope. Republicans are using a procedural clause to push it through on 51 votes.

Of the 11 states in which 30% or more of the under-65 population has some sort of pre-existing condition, all 11 were won by Trump in 2016. Here's the full list (% of under 65 population with pre-existing conditions):

These numbers come from a 2016 study by the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation. (If you're wondering: The national average of people under 65 with pre-existing conditions not covered by pre-Obamcare health care is 27%.)
What those numbers mean is that many of the people most in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare are also the people most likely to be directly affected -- and not in a good way -- if the new GOP bill becomes law

Sweet timing. Just this morning Trump was surrounded by powerful religious hucksters clapping him on the back for sticking up for Jesus.

Now they are no doubt cheering for his very Christian policy of taking away healthcare from children who have cancer. It's about compassion, people.

How do you think President Comacho got the votes? He made a deal for those votes with the executive order, appealing to those religious whack jobs in the south and in the Freedom Caucus. Timing is everything.

Watching this press conference makes me want to puke.

It just seems like the whole episode won't even get started until June, by which there will be a ton of ammo to kill it. It's not just partisan Democrats saying so, Bob Corker says there's no possibility the thing gets through. And if they start monkeying with it significantly, that will just open it up to new opportunities to attack it.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part but I really don't think the thing stands much of a chance at all, and no chance in its present form.
