That series is a condemnation of Glen Gulutzan. Just a complete inability to adapt, and the mistake of the year starting Elliott tonight.
It was an odd hire in the summer, and its an incredibly stupid hire in retrospect. Elliot should have been done after game 2, and he shouldn't have been dressed after game three.
Fire GG and spend some money on a real coach.

I think changing coaching right now might cause more issues considering how long it took the team to figure out the new system. We honestly outplayed the ducks but goaltending killed us. I'm hoping for the core guys to pick it up next year and lets try again. This still ####ing sucks though

Flames continue to wade through the murky waters of total mediocrity.
This team has been spinning it's wheels for a long time.
This team really has some nice pieces but we need an elite player. Whether that's a centre, a goalie or a D-man this team needs something more than Monahan and Gaudreau.
Monahan is a great player but the jury is still out on Gaudreau as he had a pretty disappointing season and a terrible playoffs. He is not the game breaker that we hoped he was. I feel he is not taking his conditioning seriously (my opinion of course) and he looks visibly slower and less effective than we saw him last year.
Really disappointed in Elliott's performance this playoffs.
And Troy Brouwer, what a disaster of an acquisition. He looks like he has a cement in his skates and is being dragged by a parachute.
I don't see this team really getting much better right now.

This is a good team that needs some more seasoning. You don't have to go all polak-like negative to be a 'realistic fan'.

Don't sweat it. You have to let people be angry for a while. You have to admit - this was pretty gd disappointing.

Imagine what this team would have accomplished with actual NHL coaching.

Agree on the not fearing them part (physically).
But I think you're selling them short. Look at their record over the last 25 games. They've been outright scary to end the season and are without a doubt the best team in the league over the last month.

Well no, of course not. Obviously I was kidding. But when asked what the difference was in the series it really is kinda funny watching the players try to come up with a reason besides goaltending. It was a disaster. But what else can you say?

Yeah a sweep is so much more awesome than a series win and at least one home W against the Ducks.

The zebra factor can't be underestimated. Yes, the team folded like a cheap house of cards after the bad goal call, but it was like they all felt fated, like the league was against them. Can't say I blame them, I felt the exact same way.
Point blank, bad officiating cost us two, bad goaltending cost us two. While Hamilton brain farts get an honourable mention. Put simply, had we had reliable goaltending, the series would probably be much different. Or if Gaudreau decided he wanted to be good again, that would have been nice...
Summary of the year and the series
Bad officiating
Bad Gaudreau
Bad Goaltending
Brain dead decisions from the D. Rotating taking turns being the class dunce.

His 'in game' coaching needs work that's for sure. No timeout in game 3. No line juggling whatsoever. I suspect we have another year with him though.

It's actually okay to be a homer sports fan. Don't let the cynical losers get to you. All those fans in the Dome tonight, on their feet chanting go Flames go until the buzzer sounds are homers too. What group would you rather be associated with; The chanting fans or the messageboard whiners?
