I haven't seen a more deserving team to come back in quite some time. They have out chanced and outplayed the Ducks since game 1, save for a few brief sequences where the Ducks were rewarded on amazingly every chance.
That differs from the ability and probability to, though.
My son asked me if I was going to take the car flag down this morning, and as crappy as I felt about the team I told him that I would not give up on them, despite the long odds.
The real reason I wont take it down... Because if the flames do miraculously make a come back, at some point I would have to put the flag back up. And my son would know how much of a turn-coat loser his Dad is.
Go Flames!

I just cannot believe that we can possibly win 4 straight and 2 in the Honda Center when we're up against the supernatural here. When the hockey gods don't want you to win, you just aren't going to win. Look at how these playoff series have all unfolded.
Look at how every other Canadian team has lost their first game, then won their next 2 games except us. Look at all the 3-0 series: Chicago-Nashville, look at Minnesota-St Louis, Pittsburgh-Columbus, both 8 seeds are leading the #1 seeds, there's been an insane amount of overtimes so far. This is one of the weirdest first rounds I've ever seen. The hockey gods exist and they hate us.
...A) I was just trying to say that the fans have more belief in what this team can do than the team itself...
This is not necessarily a direct response to your post, but I think forwarding nebulous notions like "lacking heart" and "resolve" as an explanation for what happened last night doesn't work. When the high-stick goal was upheld by the officials, I went literally numb. I was shocked. John Garrett and Rick Ball were clearly also shocked when the verdict was delivered. After having utterly dominated the Ducks all game up to that point, I can't imagine that the players were anything but even more stunned by the call to suddenly find themselves in a one-goal game. Of course they fell apart. I tend to think that just about anyone would have responded the same way under the same circumstances.

Hoping for a quick merciful sweep. A 3-1 defeat tomorrow and everyone can move on from this train wreck. Don't want to prolong the pain and punishment any longer. What good will come from winning tomorrow only to lose again in Anaheim? I feel a sweep is the only thing that will bring around some change.

No more wins. Just wishing that just 1 of Bieska, Perry, or Kesler gets hammered out. I don't even care if it helps the Oilers. If they beat the Sharks i hope they go all the way to the finals and lose in 7 in OT. The Hurricanes are under appreciated by Flames fans!
#### it, I'll jump on board. I would just be happy if they come out with a great effort and see what happens. Don't want to go into the offseason getting swept like this. Awful way to end the year, the boys need to show their heart and battle till the last second. If Elliott wants to be a starter next year I suggest he steps up to the plate and steals some games for the Flames. Who knows

What is a sweep going to change?
Changing Goaltenders? Probably already happening.
Retooling the bottom D pairing? Probably already happening with Engelland on the way out and lots of prospects next fall in the mix.
Getting more offense up front? With 10 Mil in deadweight defensemen out, I have to think that is already planned.
Good to come from winning tomorrow?
Increase in confidence that Anaheim is beatable.
Another game of playoff experience for the core.
The chance to win in Anaheim.
Unless your goal is "blow-it-up!", how could losing a playoff game ever be better than winning one.

This is an insufferably awful post. In truth there doesn't appear to be a lot of change needed for this team—at least none beyond UFA replacements that we all have anticipated to occur for a while now.

I don't agree with the need for massive change (except goaltending, and I wonder where we might be with an experienced coach behind the bench) but I understand the sentiment - we are so invested as fans and this week has been as heartbreaking as it gets. People just want the pain to end already so they can get on with their lives.

I am going to pile on here but your post makes no sense. The Flames will retain their core and coach after this season. Beating Anaheim and not being swept is a good thing. What change do you want?
This really all hinges on Elliott. I'm confident the team will just go for broke since they have nothing to lose, but if Elliott is shaky again then it doesn't matter.
I mean, we would have won yesterday if Elloitt was even half decent. That's been the difference. Bernier totally outplayed him in the last half of the game.
It's nice to think that the flames "have been in it" for all 3 games, and that maybe have just been unlucky. However, this is a duck team that is KNOWN for this. Exact same thing happened (hell worse) to the jets last year against this team.
Ducks are just a team that doesn't get rattled and when they eventually do battle they will usually win.
Flames just don't have the mental fortitude to win against this ducks team when it matters.
